Technical Sales Engineer

Our client is a long established international business and one of the world's technology leaders in the field of slewing bearings and slew drives. Their fields of application include construction machinery, mining & opencast mining, shipbuilding & plant construction and traffic & medical technology. The company is also one of the leading suppliers of blade, tower and main bearings for onshore and offshore wind turbines. The business supplies seven of the ten largest wind turbine manufacturers are the market leaders in the bottling industry and key players in the crane industry. As part of an organic growth strategy, our client is now looking for a talented and driven Technical Sales Engineer to contribute to and share in the future success of the business.

The Role

  • Responsible for the proactive business development (customers, order intake and sales) of both new and existing customers in the UK, including the establishment of a distributor base
  • Consultative and technology-driven sale of products combined with the implementation of the company’s sales concept/methodology with distributors
  • Sustainable growth and development of the UK market, Key Accounts and Distributor base
  • Generation of continuous, high yield sales and increase in UK market share over the next five years

The Person

  • Minimum ONC qualified in Mechanical Engineering or alternatively a time served technician/apprentice in the same discipline
  • A proven track record as a Sales Engineer in the field of mechanical and plant engineering or experience in industrial technical solution sales
  • An ability to establish technical credibility and to understand complex technical issues combined with an ability to demonstrate the added value of the company’s products to the customer
  • Experience of identifying, appointing and managing Industrial/Engineering Distributors
  • A technical sales professional with the drive, tenacity and determination to succeed in a dynamic and challenging market
