The regulatory landscape in Europe is changing rapidly, and PSD2 will have a major impact on merchants like Apple. Being able to adapt to this changing environment, working with local payment partners, will be key in successfully responding to the challenge. As such, the Wallet, Payments and Commerce team in Apple is looking for a Business Development Manager to help drive strategic new payment services for Apple’s digital payments and commerce business.

As our ideal candidate, you enjoy a high-change environment that is focused on building the next generation of Apple’s payment experiences. This role will support the payments business to navigate, successfully implement and manage Apple’s PSD2 strategy for Apple Media Products as well as Apple Pay with partners across European markets.

As a member of the Wallet, Payments and Commerce Team, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive customer engagement and payment reach with a focus on EMEIA markets for the App Store, the iTunes Store, Apple Books and Apple Music by establishing and maintaining business relationships with global payment providers. You will be a lead ambassador responsible for communicating the Apple customer experience and approach to risk management to qualified business partners implementing payment solutions. It's important to be able to negotiate and finalize contracts that align with technical implementations and Apple’s strategy. Creativity, persistence and the ability to collaborate are crucial to the success in this role.

* Extensive business development experience in driving new payment methods and services within a mobile first organization, preferably within a payments organisation or major merchant
* Deep familiarity of new European regulation and its impact on digital and physical merchants like Apple
* Deep experience working with payment networks, card issuers and other payment methods
* Experience interacting and influencing regulatory bodies
* Experience in managing sophisticated partner relationships and managing contracts
* Knowledge of online payment methods and key priorities for merchants
* Strong communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and organizational skills
* Flexibility to handle directional changes with the ability to balance moving priorities and a portfolio of initiatives to ensure project success and drive impact
* Ability to contribute consistently and positively in a high-paced, constantly evolving and sometimes unpredictable work environment
* Self-starter and results oriented; demonstrated results building lasting relationships
* Proven ability to assess business and client/partner needs, prioritize accordingly and escalate appropriately; success innovating, identifying and delivering new business, product, market opportunities with clients
* Proficiency with Apple products and applications is preferred
* Clear understanding of a great customer experience and what differentiates Apple
* Highly skilled at presenting ideas and obtaining support
* Enthusiastic willingness and agility to learn new technologies and spaces

- Be the regional “go to” person for Apple’s PSD2 strategy and execution with partners in Europe
- Stay appraised of changing payments landscape to make certain that the global strategy is modified to meet local customer needs
- Maintain strong business relationships with payment providers, working with banks and other payment partners to ensure a successful transition to PSD2
- Coordinate with local and global marketing and PR teams to ensure Apple’s messages are clearly communicated to external parties
- Monitor performance of implemented solutions to establish outstanding service for customers and to find opportunities for partner improvements
- Drive implementation of payment solutions ensuring all product requirements are executed to Apple standards
- Develop new optimisation ideas, business, solutions, and market/vertical opportunities for Apple Wallet, Payments and Commerce with an eye towards key partners and scalability
- Develop strategy and tactics to drive substantive and measurable change in adoption rate, usage, penetration and scale through partners
