Reuters, the news and media division of Thomson Reuters, is the world’s largest international multimedia news provider reaching more than one billion people every day. This is a rare opportunity to build new business in non-media industries for a well-established and respected news brand diversifying its revenue streams. The Strategic Account Manager will be focused on maximizing commercial opportunities with some of Reuters’ most strategic corporate accounts, through a variety of business models, including content licensing, advertising sales, event sponsorships, revenue share partnerships and sales alliances.

This candidate should be consultative in approach with an entrepreneurial, positive attitude – many of our most compelling partnerships require creativity and persistence to close. The candidate must develop an in-depth understanding of the customers’ needs, their business models, and end users in order to identify growth opportunities for both of our businesses.

The Strategic Account Manager is accountable to develop a pipeline of commercial partnership opportunities and to provide exceptional relationship management. The existing revenue under management of this role is significant, and therefore this role is highly visible to Senior Commercial Leadership at Reuters and Thomson Reuters.

Areas of responsibility include:

* Developing strong partnership with key customers.
* Ensuring complete understanding of their needs and those of their end users.
* Creating new commercial opportunities by providing solutions from the breadth of Reuters media solutions and products.
* Owning and driving the sales cycle from prospecting to proposal to negotiation.
* Using relevant metrics and insight to monitor progress and take action.
* Developing senior level customer relationships to become a trusted business advisor.
* Acting as liaison between the customers and internal stakeholders.
* Collaborating with internal cross-functions including Product, Marketing, Business Development, and Editorial.

Skills & Experience

* Proven experience in developing business solutions that have significant, direct revenue impact
* Ability to analyze data to translate insights into better sales planning and solutions
* Previous experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus
* Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive contracts
* Excellent presentation skills
* Experience in building cross-functional and strategic relationships
* Ability to think creatively and collaborate with cross-functions
* Passion for quality journalism
