Job Title: Senior Estimator – Façade and Cladding Systems
Industry Sector: Façade Contractors, Main Contractors, Cladding, Facades, Rainscreens, Curtain Walling, Structural Glazing, Windows & Doors and Building Envelope
Based: Belfast
Remuneration: £40,000 Neg. basic salary & full benefits
The role of the Senior Estimator – Façade and Cladding Systems will involve:
- Overseeing and working alongside a small team of 2 project estimators in Belfast and 1 in Birmingham
- Coaching and mentoring existing estimating team responsible for the design, supply and installation of aluminium facades
- Validating contract costs and estimating team workloads
- Supporting field sales team achieve £1.5m of growth (current team responsible for circa £4m-£6m turnover)
- Receiving tender enquiries and producing general take-offs to create quotations and estimates
- Negotiating best prices from aluminium system houses such as Schueco, Aluprof, Metal Technology etc.
- Prepare budget estimates for sales team to present to main contractors
- Preparation and issuing of formal quotations to customers
- Prioritise own workload to ensure customers’ deadlines are met
- Ensure quality procedures are rigorously implemented by self and subordinates
- Ability to resolve technical issues
- Occasional visits to customer sites (75% Belfast office based, 25% covering rest of the UK)
The ideal applicant will be a Senior Estimator – Façade and Cladding Systems with:
- Estimating experience from within the façade or cladding industry
- Ideally some experience of curtain walling, structural glazing, rainscreen facades, windows & doors, building envelope etc.
- Specific knowledge of Schueco, Aluprof or Metal Technology aluminium systems is not essential but may be useful
- Contacts within main contractors beneficial
- Previous man management responsibility required
- Broad technical knowledge
- Understands technical capabilities of curtain walling/ structural and fire-rated glass systems
- Commercially aware
- Ability to plan and organise deliverables
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to manage all elements of estimating and quoting to ensure customer satisfaction
- Robust, positive outlook and team player
