Reporting to the Sales and marketing director, the senior commercial manager will be expected to

  • Challenge commercial aspects of the business to drive and improve performance

  • Provide analysis, interpretation of current practice and reporting of results including identifying opportunities for improvement.

The client

Our client has been a supplier to the New Build and Social Housing Refurbishment sectors for over 35 years. Their success is based on a partnership approach to working with their clients, outstanding delivery and service performance and an understanding of the needs of the customers. They specifically developed a range of products suited to the individual needs of the sectors they service. Manufacture a product range which is fully compliant with the requirements of changing building industry legislation, as well as meeting the Police Preferred Specification embodied in the Secured by Design scheme. They are committed to the local area and have heavy investment plans to grow the business exponentially year on year.


The role

The senior commercial manager responsibilities will include

  • The implementation of change in internal sales order processes and the customer journey.

  • Provide the guidance, direction and support for reporting staff to achieve their potential and company objectives

  • Taking ownership of Key Accounts and provide an exceptional level of customer service

  • Manage the relationship with internal service providers and address issues with these parties to encourage business performance or integrity

  • Lead the customer care, Estimating and sales administration teams

  • Implementation and drive of performance management on the key performance indicators

  • Recruit, coach, develop and manage, poor performers appropriately in line with company procedures

  • Deliver complete and accurate performance results free from error consistently on a monthly basis.

  • Ensure systems and processes produce reliable results within the required timeframe.


The Candidate

The senior commercial manager will have the following skills and characteristics

  • Sense of humour

  • Humble and unpretentious

  • Commercially astute

  • be comfortable and proficient in all aspects of people management

  • Ideally lean qualification or Sigma or equivalent

  • Had senior commercial responsibility

  • Be from a manufacturing background with construction industry experience advantageous

  • be computer literate and be able use the company in-house systems

  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Have proven business development/customer relations experience

  • Can demonstrate a high level of management and organisational skills

  • Lead customer care, Estimating and sales administration teams in a manufacturing environment
