Sales Engineer (Hydrology/Meteorological Instruments) – £50k OTE + Benefits – Sheffield

The Role

The OTT Hydromet Group is looking for an experienced and talented Sales Engineer (Hydrology/Meteorological Instruments) to support the team at their site in Sheffield. This role also has opportunities to be home-based. You will be responsible for developing the HydroMet business platform across the UK, maintaining and developing relationships with new and existing customers.

The ideal candidate will be dynamic, friendly and professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be embarking on exciting challenges as part of a team of professionals, and the international focus of our company will open up excellent future prospects for you. The key responsibilities of a Sales Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing the HydroMet business platform across the UK; developing the sales channel for our products with ancillary systems in the UK
  • Maintaining and growing existing portfolio by regular interaction with customers to achieve agreed sales targets
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations, attending trade shows, conferences and workshops
  • Collaborating with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support
  • Securing and renewing orders by applying funnel management techniques (Salesforce.com knowledge is an advantage)
  • Negotiating tender and contract terms
  • Preparing sales reports for the Managing Director

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Sales Engineer:

  • Qualified to degree level or similar in a technical discipline
  • Several years of professional experience in technical sales
  • Good working knowledge of UK HydroMet applications in the municipal, water and renewables markets
  • Experience of field sales and installation of instrumentation for HydroMet applications; knowledge of telemetry systems is an advantage
  • A dynamic personality with high customer and service orientation
