A rare opportunity has arisen for a Group Sales Director position to join this well-established company with the ambition to capitalise on recent acquisition. Stuart Canvas, a market leader in manufacturing ready-made and bespoke covers for a range of uses, acquired Mudfords in March 2018. Having acquired Mudfords, who have a long-standing brand within their market, the Group is now looking to take the commercial team to the next level.
THE ROLE: In your first year in the role you will be responsible for managing the Mudfords commercial team, which is a team of six. Part of your time will be spent observing/managing the team and part of your time will be spent managing and developing national customers (builders, timber and plumbers merchants). Once you have established yourself, your task will be to grow and recruit to maximise profitability of the business and then move into a Group Sales Director role with responsibility for the entire commercial function of the Stuart Canvas Group.
THE PERSON: To be considered for this position you will have a track record of sales and sales management, selling through either merchants (electrical wholesaler, builders/timber/plumbers merchant) or industrial distributors. You will have a thorough understanding of this route to market and have the ambition to move into a company where you can make a difference through both managing the team and developing accounts yourself.
THE COMPANY: The Stuart Canvas Group are a market leading UK manufacturer that exports to 25 countries globally. With a strong brand in their market the dynamic leadership team are keen to capitalise on strong growth and have acquired Mudfords as a result. The new Sales Director will have the autonomy to bring structure to the sales team at Mudfords to replicate the success seen elsewhere in the group. If successful, the next step will be to move into a Group Sales Director role with a view to a board position.
