Regional Sales Director

They have a fantastic new opportunity for a Regional Sales Director to join their team supporting SPAR independent retailers. You will need to be motivated and driven to support and develop the existing customer base whilst controlling the implementation of their Trade Partner initiatives, ensuring that retailers maintain the standard required by their organisation. You will be joining a forward-thinking family-owned business which began life in 1917, growing from humble beginnings into a company that now employs more than 7,800 people with a turnover of £1.2 billion. Our client is the 44th largest privately owned business in the UK.

Regional Sales Director Responsibilities

• Lead and support Regional Sales Managers, Business Development Executives and Sales Development Executives in producing retail business plans to grow profitable retail and wholesale sales
• Work in conjunction with the Sales Director to agree on regional sales and cost budgets
• Lead and support the Regional Sales Managers, Business Development Executives and Sales Development Executives to implement the divisional strategy, based on the four key drivers of product mix, cost, customer foot-fall and basket size
• Work in conjunction with the Customer Relationship Manager to drive retail client satisfaction, improving loyalty and retention through divisional and regional trade partner events
• Influence and inspire regional trade partners to invest and continuously develop their business to grow profitable retail and wholesale sales
• Support the New Business team in recruiting regional and divisional accounts to grow profitable wholesale sales
• Coaching and mentoring Regional Sales Managers, Business Development Executives and Sales Development Executives to support them in the transition from a transactional to a consultative relationship with trade partners to grow profitable retail sales
• Monitoring trade partner adherence/loyalty towards recognised SPAR operating standards and facilitating improvement as required
• Accountability for trade partner bad debt management working in conjunction with the Credit Control function

Skills/Experience

• Full UK Driving License
• Business degree or equivalent if preferred
• Strong evidence of the ability to build effective relationships and an understanding of small independent businesses
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Track record of successfully establishing partnerships with suppliers and customers
• Ability to champion and implement a sales strategy to grow profitable retail and wholesale sales
