SALARY: £55,000 - £65,000

REQUIREMENTS: You will have an academic grounding in Ceramics, coupled with demonstrable experience of Ceramics commercialisation in any industry sector.

You may already be in a successful leadership position or alternatively aspiring to become a future leader.


As a Product Manager/ Business Manager, Ceramics, you will lead profitable growth of the Ceramics business, with both technical and commercial leadership responsibility.

You will own the P&L and have budget accountability for the business unit, coupled with business development responsibilities.

You will create a business plan for the growth of the ceramics business, by incorporating clear market needs and matching that to our existing capabilities, as well as identifying requirements for future investment, whether in skills or capital equipment.

As the customer facing technical expert in technical ceramics, this role requires the creation of technical solutions for customers that have applications for these materials and processes. These will be primarily in the energy, electronics, medical and aerospace industries.

You will lead a team of ceramic/process scientists/engineers, both directly and cross-functionally.

Projects could be long term, where novel technologies need to be taken from concept to commercialisation and the customer needs to commit to multiple stages of development; or more discrete projects involving existing processes that require optimisation due to inefficiencies, failures, or any other need for improvement or adaptation.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Product Manager / Business Manager, Ceramics

* Develop and own business plan for the ceramic materials team
* Conduct face-to-face customer visits, sometimes accompanied by commercial colleagues, to ascertain critical customer requirements and challenges. 20-25% of your time will be spent visiting customers internationally.
* Work with the commercial teams to develop concepts for client challenges
* Formulate feasibility studies, generating work scopes and deliver comprehensive reports
* Develop relationships with external suppliers/collaborators to provide access to specialist resources and skills that we will need to deliver some of the services outlined in the work
* Convince target customers in the credibility of our services and technology platforms, to help secure new business
* Respond to customer challenges and questions at the front and back-end of technology project discussions
