DESCRIPTION

The AWS Startup Business Development team works early-stage startups, accelerator and incubator leadership teams, many early-stage angels, VC investors and scaled startups while navigating cross-AWS and Amazon to enable startups to realize outsized success. The team is comprised of founders, builders, venture investors, accelerator professionals, Angels etc. They drive high-impact initiatives across AWS to build the startup ecosystem and support the next generation of startup entrepreneurs.
We’re inviting you to join our team as Principal, Startup Business Development to drive the awareness and adoption of the AWS cloud across the startup communities in UK & Ireland through partnerships with Startup Organizations such as Accelerators, Incubators, Angels, and Universities, etc. In this role, you will develop strategic partnership with startup firms in the startup ecosystem and work closely with their portfolio companies to help them grow and prosper. You will deliver tangible business results that increases AWS adoption and customer success by building awareness in startup ecosystems for AWS Startup programs and services, providing technical and business guidance on the topics most important to startups and using customer feedback and experiences to help AWS improve its startup services, messaging and products

Candidates must have a background as a venture capital investor, or a startup founder, or an accelerator operator, where they’ve built a business, raised capital or was involved in making venture investment decisions. Candidates with experience from startup/investment organizations such financial advisory firms, technology media, founder’s club, corporate venture investment teams, and family offices may also be considered.
The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional business development background and demonstrated technical aptitude that enables them to engage with leading startup firms and interact with startup founders, CXO’s, engineers and builders. Those candidates that have also had experience in B2B SaaS are preferable.

§ Develop strategies and programs to drive mindshare for AWS in majority of the startup organizations
§ Execute strategic initiatives for AWS, while working closely with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales, partners, marketing, technical, support, training teams, etc)
§ Develop and manage relationships with top startup organizations to educate them on how AWS can help build their portfolio companies scale and grow by leveraging AWS services, resources, and go-to-market programs.
§ Identify key startup organizations with portfolio companies that have infrastructure needs, and drive engagement with these VCs to increase AWS adoption in their portfolios.
§ Work with startup organizations as their single point of contact of all things AWS and Amazon, help them understand AWS benefits and where there may be exciting opportunities for their startups.
§ Work closely with founders of many of the upcoming startups to ensure they’re successfully engaging with AWS platform, making sure they have the technical and business resource required for optimal customer experience, and identifying additional opportunities for them to work more deeply with AWS and other Amazon business units.
§ Prepare and deliver data-driven reviews to the senior management about progress, achievements, and roadblocks in any stage of the startup business.
§ Participate actively in startup community events of all kinds to identify high potential startups and build personal relationship with startup founders and influencers.
§ Evangelize AWS’ value and innovation culture to startup founders and ensure they have full awareness and access to the full spectrum of the resources and services AWS/Amazon has to offer
