Playing the last 15 years in the professional leagues; Celtic (Pro 14) and European Champions, the Scarlets have had significant achievements during this time; 2017 Winners of Pro 12, 2018 Pro 14 Finalist and 2018 European Semi Finalists. Over the last 5 years Scarlets have invested heavily in both their rugby and the business, offering exceptional memorable experiences to all on match days and non-match days utilising their new multi-million pound stadium 'Parc Y Scarlet'.


Scarlets are the heart of Llanelli and West Wales region and are heavily community focused, with over +3000 community shareholders. The Head of Commercial position, will play a critical role to develop strong business relationships with existing partners and deliver excellence in commercial obligations. Develop key strategies for each partnership, to achieve clear commercial targets and milestones. Additional key responsibilities will involve;

  • Identify and target new business partnership opportunities in the local and national areas
  • Monitor current sponsorship's in the market, continually looking for and to secure new opportunities
  • Develop and implement strategies for the Scarlets hospitality sell-out model and help create and implement CRM plans, campaigns, promotions etc.
  • Responsible for the Scarlets match day entertainment experience in all business lounges and lead the match day attendance project team to increase fan attendance
  • Accountability for the achievement of revenue targets for sponsorship and all match day ticketing
  • Manage relationships with kit and retail partners. Ensure to drive retail merchandise sales within stores, online (domestically and internationally) and exploiting shows and festivals
  • Ensure commercial compliance with PRO14, European Cup, Anglo-Welsh, Key partners, LED and Big Screen.

Key part of this role is to manage the Commercial Team to nurture and grow existing relationships and identify new partnerships. The individual will be a key member of the senior leadership team.


For this Head of Commercial position, Scarlets are looking for a high performing sales professional, ideally with the following background;

  • Commercial sales experience selling sponsorship, preferable in the sporting or related industry
  • Previous success in developing strong relationships with 'C' level decision makers
  • Business development experience with strong negotiation skills to close all levels of deals
  • Hands on approach to get involved with all aspects of the club
  • Effective team-based, relationship-based seller
  • People management experience, clear communicator and motivator
  • Highly organised, literate and can work with CRM systems
  • Passionate and motivated to be working for Llanelli Scarlets
