Food Buyer - Dairy
Reports to: Buying Manager
Working hours: Monday - Friday, 9am – 5.30pm (flexible)

organic food to people’s homes across much of England. As an online retailer we represent a refreshing alternative to
supermarket shopping, but without being worthy or preachy. No airfreight, no silly packaging, no nasty chemicals – just

We deliver to around 70,000 households and we employ about 550 great people. We consider ourselves bold, irreverent,

Role Summary: At Abel & Cole we are extremely passionate about Organic food and work closely with our Organic producers to offer an
extensive range of seasonal, high quality, innovative products. We love staying ahead of food trends and ensure we
surprise and delight our customers in our product offering, quality and ethical position.
In this role you will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge of Organic farming working closely with our
suppliers to seek out new product opportunities for our customers. You will be accountable for the category and
commercial performance of dairy category. Key elements will include supplier management, category management
including range planning, pricing, promotions and new product development. You will play a key role in representing
Dairy across the business, acting as an ambassador for the products, suppliers and organic farming.
Key Responsibilities To develop and maintain strong and robust relationships with our suppliers ensuring a fit for purpose supply
base, to have an understanding of organic farming and for Abel & Cole to be seen as a preferred and respected
customer. To seek out, support and nurture new suppliers in strategic product areas. Define, own and deliver a range that is customer focused and embraces new and emerging product trends,
seasonality, quality and innovation underpinned by our ethical commitments. To lead own label and branded product development projects working closely with our packaging, creative,
technical and operational teams. To work closely with suppliers and the supply chain team, in order to achieve availability and wastage targets Keep up to date with industry trends, economic factors and key suppliers for each category area. To engage the wider business on food products, trends and regular updates on organic food production
Experience and Skills Food buying experience in a retail environment 2:1 or above degree Passion for the food industry (ideally Organic food) and online shopping Exceptional negotiation and analytical skills Strong project management skills with the ability to manage key internal and external stakeholders Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Excellent IT skills including Excel
