About the role:
Managing an M&S department will be the ultimate test of your retail talents. Not just because you would be managing a department with a turnover that runs into millions of pounds. Or because you’re leading, coaching and inspiring a team of up to 25.
It’s a high-profile, demanding role – not least because where we lead, others follow. Innovative products, a passion for quality and a total commitment to great customer service are all hallmarks of our business. You’ll ensure these are deeply ingrained in your staff and store.
Whether you’re from a Food, Clothing & Home, Finance or Hospitality background, you will be an experienced retail manager or team leader with the ideas and imagination to create the ultimate shopping experience. Outstanding leadership skills, real commercial vision and an impressive business management mindset will all combine to make you a formidable talent.
You’ll need the ability to build relationships, inspire people to provide great service and get on well with customers and colleagues alike. That means making sure your team are clear on their roles and responsibilities, developing their potential and motivating them to give customers memorable experiences.
At the same time, we need you to be well organised, keeping on top of stock control, staffing issues and in-store standards, while monitoring costs and of course driving sales, with an eye on profits. It is also important that you are tech aware as introducing our customers to the benefits of virtual shopping will be high on your list of priorities.
About the application process:
You’ll initially complete an online application form and then take part in a short video interview. If successful, you’ll be invited to a 1:1 assessment where you will be interviewed in greater depth and take part in two other exercises which involve analysis and coaching. The face-to-face assessment allows you to find out even more about M&S and the role of a section manager.
