National Accounts Manager/Commercial Manager- Construction/Horticultural/Tool Hire

Salary- up to £50,000 (DOE) + car + bonus- North West

Our Client is seeking an experienced commercially minded sales leader to lead its expanding national Sales team. Working with the Sales & Marketing Director, marketing department and regional branch managers you will identify and drive sales revenues across multiple markets, satisfying customer requirements from their extensive range of branded quality products and services.

Working for a long-established and family owned company, you will be supplying a huge range of small plant equipment, engines, accessories and spare parts in to multiple and varied industry sectors such as; Construction, Tool & Plant Hire, Grounds care, Facilities Management, Local Authority and some resellers and OEMs.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong and proven sales track-record, an understanding of commercial aims and customer needs to have an integral and hands-on part to play in the future success of the business.

You will be responsible for the nurture, research and analysis of key national and regional customer accounts to identify and realise new business opportunities within existing and new markets and product range extension. For opportunities to succeed, you’ll need to prepare, present and execute commercially viable and profitable business plans.  

The Role

  • Develop analytical understanding of markets, customers, suppliers and competitors
  • Prepare, present and execute commercially viable business plans
  • Drive sales and business development projects
  • Record and plan pipeline activities using a CRM system
  • Collaboratively work with relevant stakeholders
  • Develop the business’ value proposition
  • Build rewarding relationships with key customer buyers and influencers
  • Research and analysis of product and market gaps
  • Present proposals of new business opportunities
  • Ensure customer acquisition and revenue streams are in-line with business goals

The Candidate

  • Sales passion for developing profitable market opportunities
  • Experience within small plant, hire or construction industry is advantageous
  • Proven sales record within a similar role
  • Demonstrable understanding of pipeline development & management
  • A confident self-starter who can take ownership of a project and drive it to completion whilst working within a multi-site team.
  • Ability to communicate business development goals to all levels of the business effectively and be constructively challenging to deliver the best results
  • Work effectively in a demanding and high-performance environment 
  • Highly commercially orientated
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Write and present persuasive and concise reports at board level
  • Operate as a strategic adviser, adding value to projects, meetings and conversations

This is an exceptional senior level position and would suit a candidate with an outstanding commercial sales background looking for a senior level position within an expanding business where they can add significant value to the commercial strategy.
