About the Team:

The Consumer Commercial finance team is a key part of Finance in Telefonica UK and is instrumental in shaping and supporting the direction of the consumer business. The team provide decision support to the Consumer Proposition Management & In-Life Teams within Customer Marketing. This team combines commercial acumen, financial analysis & challenge to ensure that the financial & customer targets are delivered across the Consumer PAYM, PAYG Mobile and MBB P&Ls which deliver over £3.5bn annual revenue & have a customer base of over 11m customers.

Your role:

Reporting into the Consumer Pricing & Acquisition Finance Manager, this is a key role within the Consumer Commercial Finance team, working as finance business partner to the Consumer Pricing team. This role has responsibility from a finance perspective for analysing all PAYM mobile pricing decisions, covering Hardware pricing, Handset & SIMO Promotions and Flagship launches. Producing business cases, post implementation reviews, analysis for management and P&L reviews to influence the success of the PAYM P&L.

This role will give you exposure to senior stakeholders across Finance & Strategy, Marketing and Sales and Retention. This requires an individual with excellent commercial acumen, modelling skills and communication style with the ability to pro-actively analyse and challenge the business.


Decision support to manage PAYM pricing: Provide decision support to the pricing team on all aspects of PAYM pricing including Hardware pricing supported by the commercial finance graduate. Providing recommendations to the Consumer Pricing & Acquisition Finance Manager and Head of PAYM finance and where appropriate suggesting solutions to help balance at times conflicting priorities.

Business case development: Produce business cases for handset & SIMO pricing promotions and propositions, working closely with the business owners to provide the best commercial assessment possible. Performing post implementation reviews to understand the impact of changes, performance versus the business case and use this to influence future proposals. This person must also be comfortable to make assumptions & justify them when all the facts are not available.

Tracking Offers & Vendor Funding: Work with the Commercial Finance Manager to develop robust tracking of all pricing including when this is funded by vendors. Feed assumptions into outlook process as required.

Additional Responsibilities: As required support other areas of Commercial Finance including PAYG & MBB.

Demonstrable Experience:

* A highly motivated self-starter, able to deliver high quality commercial support with minimal guidance

* Highly commercial and analytical with the ability to identify key messages and influence decisions

* Strong track record in building relationships and influencing and driving the decision making process

* Ability to prioritise multiple demands to ensure greatest value add and managing expectations

* Able to proactively solve problems and make decisions on day to day issues

* Ability to deliver and with a flexible approach

* Excellent communication skills across different levels of stakeholder

* Understanding of the mobile business including knowledge of key competitor trends and threats to mobile business.

Essential Qualifications:

* Qualified Accountant

* Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Powerpoint

* Strong financial modelling skills
