The role will comprise both consultative and technical aspects, working alongside other members of the Commercial Analytics team to help drive data visualisation and data-led decisions across the commercial side of the business. The successful candidate can expect to be involved in the consultation, spec'ing, design and build of tools and dashboards to serve as information workflows for our sales teams, and / or be used to answer specific questions or wide-ranging briefs from senior management. This will involve effectively utilising multiple existing data sources as well as sourcing and integrating new ones as business needs evolve. The role will also involve the maintenance and upgrade of existing tools, including discussion with users and stakeholders to help consolidate and improve the offering that we provide to the business. Automation and the efficient deployment of solutions are an important part of the team's output and thus also to this role. This includes the design and implementation of workflows to (i) update and support our tools, and (ii) monitor the integrity of the data feeding those tools to ensure their accuracy and robustness. This would give the candidate exposure to commercial data structures and data strategy and how these are applied in a commercial context.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

* Drive the development of analytical capabilities within the RM group
* Assist with the delivery of commercial analytics, supporting the decision making of senior management
* Contribute in the pioneering, development and maintenance of the data visualisation suite (Tableau) across RM and the wider business
* Assist in integrating new data sources to improve current modelling and decision-making capabilities
* Involvement in analysis on opportunities for business improvement (e.g. pricing, reduction of client churn, resource allocation)
* Utilise tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, JavaScript, Python and other relevant technology
* Work with key partners from Sales and IT to identify any gaps or inconsistencies in the data and assist in the improvement of these

Key measures of success:

* Collaborating with Sales and other departments to deliver analytical tools that make their information workflow easier and more robust
* Pioneering greater automation and efficiency initiatives
* Helping to drive data visualisation across the Group

Experience and Skills

* A good BSc in a quantitative subject (Maths, Engineering, Economics, Physical Sciences) with a relevant MSc being an advantage, but not essential
* Proven experience of delivering analytical tools in a commercial environment, or demonstrable potential at BSc/MSc starter level
* Passionate about data and data visualisation; able to communicate this with enthusiasm
* An understanding of pricing & revenue management concepts and strategies - desirable, but not essential.
* A keen eye for detail, ability to work under pressure and deliver time-sensitive work to a high standard
* A professional manner with the ability to interact with senior management when needed
* The ability to explain analysis to non-numerate people and empathise with their perspective
* Utilise tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, JavaScript, Python and other relevant leading technology. Previous specific experience of these tools is desirable but not required; the candidate appointed will have the opportunity to learn and apply these, both through formal and ‘on the job’ training with enthusiastic colleagues
* A “can do” positive mind-set and the ambition to grow as a data custodian and analyst
