Description

Business Development Manager - Top 20 Law Firm

The Sector BD Manager (BDM) role will help to develop and drive forward the firm's sector growth strategy. Working closely with Service Line Heads and key international partners, the BDM will manage the development of key client business plans, ensuring their effective implementation. He/she will monitor progress against targets and support the client relationship partners (CRPs) and Account Managers (AMs) in growing specific key insurance clients.

In addition, they will work with key partners across the business, both in the UK and globally to identify new business and cross-selling opportunities within and across clients.

Core responsibilities:

Client Management & Growth Strategies

  • Develop and grow an assigned portfolio of clients within the Insurance sector
  • Develop and implement sector strategy, client plans and manage associated budgets
  • Identify market opportunities, both UK and internationally and work with fee earners to develop and sell new products/services
  • Identify and target growth markets - working with the wider Clients & Markets team to develop initiatives
  • Commission and interpret market and competitor research to inform sector strategy and BD activity
  • Proactively measure and analyse overall financial performance at a client level
  • Work with the Client Engagement Programme Team, Bids & Sales Team to ensure client targeting and client growth is being executed and driven through the sector
  • Coach partners and other fee earners to support client meetings both internally and in client facing environments
  • Work with the Bid Team to identify pursuits and prepare for panel reviews providing strategic input to the subsequent bid process and directory entries
  • Liaise with the Client Listening Team to drive client feedback through the sector and ensure that feedback is monitored and service delivery refined as appropriate

Product/Service Lines

  • In conjunction with the Service Line Heads, identify priority growth areas and help develop and implement BD plans
  • Build strong relationships with key partners, both in the UK and internationally
  • Work with the Insurance Marketing Managers to develop campaigns around service lines
  • Ensure that clients and potential clients are targeted effectively
  • Liaise with the Insurance PR Manager to ensure that the profile and positioning of the services line are effectively communicated
  • Working with external Research companies, commission and interpret market research around specific service lines, both UK and globally

Profile

Business Development Manager - Top 20 Law Firm

Key skills

  • Experience of working in the legal industry and/or related fields
  • An in depth understanding of the legal and/or insurance market and its influencers and a track record of using this knowledge to generate growth opportunities
  • A thirst for technical knowledge and application of knowledge to generate ideas
  • Have strong communication skills at all levels
  • Experience developing client plans and client growth strategies
  • Experience of creating strategic business plans and driving the implementation of their delivery
  • Be highly credible with the ability to influence, challenge and coach senior stakeholders
  • Have experience of instigating and leading change programmes
  • Degree educated or equivalent

Job Offer

A basic salary of £65,000 - £75,000 plus bonus and excellent company benefits
