Who we are:
We design and manufacture components for the aerospace and defence sector which are supplied to customers worldwide. Due to the retirement of our current sales manager at the end of March 2018 we are looking for a successor to work initially with him to become familiar with the business and customers and then to take over full responsibility for sales.
Our business is split 60% UK and 40% export and involves the design and supply of bespoke applications ranging from missiles, drones, fighting vehicles, radar and antenna systems to industrial and commercial test and manufacturing machinery.
The Business Development Manager Role:
The position will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities and for developing new opportunities. The person appointed will have two sales administrators reporting directly and will be involved in the recruitment of additional sales support personnel, business allowing.
+ Generating new business in line with the company goals
+ Maintaining and enhancing existing customer relationships
+ Proposal preparation and submission
+ Contract review and negotiations
+ Preparation and updating of sales forecasts
+ In collaboration with the management team, formulate marketing objectives and direct marketing activities
+ Helping to meet company set KPIs on plan performance, sales and profitability
+ Exhibition organisation and preparation
+ Managing the sales administration team
Business Development Manager Requirements:
+ Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
+ Proven electro-mechanical sales experience in the aerospace/defence sector would be preferable
+ Experience in dealing with large aerospace and defence contractors
+ Good electro-mechanical technical knowledge
+ Strong communication skills
+ Readiness to conduct frequent overseas travel
+ Ability to lead and motivate a team
+ Experience in dealing with and solving challenges
+ Knowledge of export control regulations and procedures
