Reporting directly into the Commercial Director, this Business Development Manager - Cruise Sector role exists to drive growth through proactively capturing new business. Currently 30% of the business won is in the cruise ship sector, so there is a good base to start with.

Often seen as the market leaders in their space, our client is extremely well known in the UK and has growing recognition overseas. They focus on repairs and restorations in a number of discreet industries, one of which is the marine sector. They have grown significantly on the basis of excellent marketing and customer service, they are now keen to kick on their outbound sales more professionally. Their offices are in South East England.


The duties of the Business Development Manager - Cruise Sector role are very clearly defined. Bring in new business from the cruise ship sector. How this is achieved is through:-

  • Researching prospective accounts in the marine market, pursue leads and follow through to a successful agreement
  • Understanding the target markets, including industry, company, project, company contacts and which market strategies can be used to attract clients
  • Collaborating internally with Enquiries, Scheduling, Logistics and Stores to ensure that requirements are met
  • Maintaining relationships with current clients and identify new prospects within the marine sector
  • Possessing a strong understanding of our products, our competition in the industry and positioning
  • Following the latest industry developments and stay up-to-date on corporate competitors
  • Networking yourself around the sector, meeting the key names


In order to make an application for the Business Development Manager - Cruise Sector role, candidates must be able to demonstrate a clear track record of sales success in the cruise ship sector. We will be looking for the following on CVs:-

  • Five years proven track record in sales to the cruise ship sector
  • Excellent organisational skills, with emphasis on priorities and goal setting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical analysis software
  • Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Technical skills required to understand and propose products or solutions by focusing on client requirements
  • An understanding of the marine sector would be a massive bonus
  • As would speaking Spanish and/or Italian

Job Offer

The base salary for this role is vastly dependent on experience. They are open to those with strong track records of delivery at this level or someone who is more of an up and comer.

The range available is £40,000 to £50,000, however they may be some flex for exceptional performers.
