Business Development Manager – £50k-£60k + Benefits – Essex/The Midlands

The Role

RLE UK are looking for a capable and experienced Business Development Manager to deliver on sales against key business development targets within existing and key automotive engineering & consultancy growth markets. You will be office based either in Essex or the Midlands, with the opportunity for extensive UK travel. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a fresh challenge with a rapidly growing company.

The ideal candidate is a results-orientated individual with a proven track record in automotive engineering sales. You will be able to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment, showing an understanding of the principles and applications associated with RLE’s core UK and global activities. This role will be both challenging and fulfilling for the successful candidate.

The key responsibilities of a Business Development Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating and delivering sales in order to establish new business channels for RLE UK
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing contacts within desired markets
  • Identifying new business opportunities and arranging initial meetings to lead to quotation stage, creating opportunities via telephone, face-to-face meetings as well as arranging and attending customer meetings
  • Providing senior management with regular feedback via status reporting and customer management data

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Business Development Manager:

  • 3+ years progressive experience in a senior business development/sales role within the automotive engineering sector; ideally also qualified to degree level
  • Demonstrate MS Office skills to a high standard specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must possess a very strong personal presence, strong interpersonal skills and must be comfortable interacting in a wide variety of environments with technical expertise
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with in-depth industry knowledge
  • Experience in the quotation process and delivering quotes to a high standard and to customers’ expectations
