BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (Waste / Collectable Services Division)

REPORTS TO: National Sales Manager

PACKAGE:

Base salary up to £40,000 pa with OTE of £70,000 uncapped

OBJECTIVE:

Generate new business and achieve sales targets through the identification and development of new customers across all business sectors.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Achieve and exceed monthly targets in accordance with all company procedures and codes of conduct

Prospecting - identify sales opportunities and potential customers

Generate and qualify leads from a variety of sources

Cold call prospective customers by phone and in person

Pipeline management – build sales pipeline, develop and implement sales activity plans across the month and year (with the utilisation of a monthly planner)

Make sales calls to new customers and schedule customer appointments

Respond to sales enquiries by phone, electronically and in person

Follow up with customer appointments. Conduct professional meetings, comprehensively questioning and listening to fully understand customer requirements

Develop and deliver presentations

Arrange/conduct product demonstrations and training as required

Identify and resolve client concerns

Develop and articulate an effective sales proposition

Develop strong business relationships with customers, branch personnel, support functions and peers across the UK business

Develop and grow new business for c. 3 months before implementing a comprehensive and seamless handover to the Branch Manager

Work with branch staff and support departments to help ensure that customer requirements are met, and any issues are resolved in a timely fashion

Develop and maintain a comprehensive customer database and maintain up to date customer meeting and activity records

Territory development and management. Fully understand the current and potential customer base within the assigned territory. Plan activity to maximise time prospecting and meeting customers

Manage designated geographic area with regards to travel planning and meetings; being mindful of effective time management and health and safety requirements

Prepare and deliver regular sales reports and management information as required

Participate in sales and corporate events and campaigns as necessary

Participate in sales and business meetings

Monitor competitor activity, market conditions, and product development, reporting/escalating key activity, developments and issues as necessary

Any other duties reasonably requested and within the scope and purpose of the role

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and agree KPIs and performance criteria

Act with honesty and integrity in all business dealings and adheres to Company Code of Business Conduct

Ensure that processes and procedures are followed

Ensure that the job description for their role is received, understood and agreed

Ensure objectives/goals are set with manager to facilitate performance appraisal

Monitor achievement of targets, KPI's and goals and identify training needs

Undertake regular training and research to ensure high performance levels are achieved

Essential Criteria

Excellent written and verbal communications skills in a face-to-face (and cold calling) sales environment

Proactively and competently communicate new product and service opportunities and information to prospects and clients

Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, clients, suppliers and stakeholders

Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

Possess excellent standards of performance and can demonstrate thorough understanding of sales practice and principles

Committed to working smarter to reach maximum productivity and results

Proven ability to achieve (and exceed) sales targets and expectations over an extended period of time

Possess excellent selling skills (prospecting/qualifying, persuasion, negotiation and closing) throughout the entire sales process

Possess the personal qualities of a winner – self-belief, energetic, persistence, confident decision maker, commitment and consistency

Confident and tenacious – perseveres to achieve the best results and outcomes

Resilient with the ability to be flexible and agile dependent on action plans and schedules

Proven successful ability of selling customer-centric solutions to match the needs of the customers

Valid UK driving license
