Job Purpose

The Sales Executive position works to deliver a successful and holistic
business-to-business (B2B) development strategy in line with the operational plan and the vision, strategy and brand.

The post holder will be expected to promote and grow the Training solutions with targeted employers and organisations across the country, in accordance with their dedicated sector. While the role will primarily focus activity on their dedicated sector, the role will work closely with the Senior Business Development Executive and the other Business Development Executives as and when cross-sector activity is required.

Job Scope
Business Development:

Leads and develops B2B employer engagement for their dedicated sector, in line with the requirements and ESFA contract allocations.

Research and Development:

Leads on market research and contributes to the development of the packages for B2B development and ensure products and services are developed and implemented in line with the Clients expectations.

Cross-Sales and Promotional Activity:

Maintains best practice by cross-selling across sectors and other products / services the provides; ensuring the strength of the brand is maintained nationally.

Customer Account Management:

Seeks to build relationships with stakeholders to widen the portfolio of services offered and opportunities that could strengthen bid submissions for contracts.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Works in a target-driven environment to exceed ESFA contract value through a variety of

employer engagement strategies and growth of apprenticeship learner volumes.

  • Develops beneficial stakeholder relationships and leads on bid writing where

appropriate for their sector to increase revenue streams for through
commercial products, ESF, DWP and other funding streams as deemed appropriate by
the Commercial Director.

  • Develops suitable bids submissions for contracts and opportunities as they become


  • Creates and develops a CRM database of information on all existing and new corporate

customers including profile, trends, site size and training requirements.

  • Sets up B2B meetings, ensuring the most appropriate people attend and that leads are maximised.
  • Provides information, advice and guidance to potential and existing corporate customers in relation to the suitability of Training solutions.
  • Promotes the corporate client offering, apprenticeship provision and upsells further in-house training courses around the UK.
  • Organises corporate visits in order to build and maintain corporate profile to maximise sales.
  • Monitors the progress of all B2B and training solutions packages, taking appropriate action to ensure that relationships and developed and maintained.
  • Reviews and evaluates service performance periodically.
  • Promotes products across all sectors and areas
  • Works to ensure an agreed minimum surplus generation on all business activities generated.

Research and Development

  • Develops and implements an ongoing strategy for gaining and responding to; Labour

market intelligence data, local enterprise partnership requirements and employer requirements.

  • Conducts training needs analysis aligned to business goals for existing and potential

corporate customers.

  • Aligns training plans to financial illustrations for Levy and Non Levy customers.
  • Produces appropriate analysis to support new market offerings in line with theoperational plan.
  • Ensures feedback and evaluation from previous products, services and programmes is

assessed and utilised to support the implementation of new offerings.

  • Liaises with all teams to ensure the programme and other products /

services can be delivered in line with market and customer research, and the
expectations of the Commercial Director.

  • Conducts LMI, LEP and employer research in region ensuring product alignment with

local/ regional requirements.

  • Develops and implements an ongoing strategy for gaining and responding to; Labour

market intelligence data, Local enterprise partnership requirements and employer
Cross-Sales and Promotional Activity

  • Seeks opportunities to cross-sell products across all functions
  • Encourages collaboration and supports in the development of a shared sales-vision
  • Provides B2B trend analysis for short term issues, medium term direction and long term strategy.
  • Has robust review processes in place to ensure performance meets expectations and that sales leads are developed to meet high standards.
  • Utilises CRM to create and maintain employer and industry relationships to expand and improve the take up of cross-operational products and services
  • Ensures regular B2B sales, retention and usage reports are provided to the Commercial Director.
  • Works across Education and with the apprenticeship teams to ensure the effective promotion, sales and delivery of high quality apprenticeships.
  • Meets regularly with delivery teams, listening and responding to the feedback to develop strong relationships with external clients.
  • Reviews B2B performance and works with stakeholders across the company, in line with the expectations of the Senior Business Development Executive to review effectiveness of promotional and all marketing activities.
  • Refers key relationships and sales leads where relevant to other operations

Customer Account Management

  • Establishes, nurtures and develops relationships with key stakeholders and employers at sites, developing income
  • Regularly provides updates and reports on the success and development of customer accounts.
  • Identifies, engages and develops new partnerships, with organisations and people in line with the clients ethos and values.
  • Develops partnerships with external stakeholders to widen provision offers.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Sales training/qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Educated to NVQ level 3
  • Sector experience of SFA and/or EFA provision
  • Proven experience of meeting/exceeding sales and business development targets
  • People management experience
  • Experience working in a commercial/negotiation environment
  • Experience of motivating a diverse team
  • Experience of managing corporate contracts
  • Experience of delivering high levels of customer services
