Our Team
Santander Global Corporate Banking (SGCB) UK is the wholesale business division of Santander UK that offers banking services to the largest UK corporations and financial institutions. It also manages market activities and provides treasury products to its own clients and to the other divisions of Santander UK. It benefits from the presence of other SGCB divisions in several geographies where the Santander Group operates (e.g. US, Europe, Asia and Latin America) and their local and cross-border product capabilities.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Back Office SME within Corporate Investment Banking. The team delivers a portfolio of change across business growth and regulatory change programs. Santander has an in-house developed back office system covering

•Trade processing/validation
•Client/reference data

You will be a forward-thinking problem-solver for the development and rapid delivery of next-generation platform solutions and prototypes; who seeks and uses the right tool for the job. We're looking for self-starters, who can work independently and collaboratively within and across teams.

You will be required to build strong relationships with the business and within the product team and support them in building robust and innovative software solutions that are fit for purpose. You will develop a strategy for the team to meet the Santander Technology UK’s goals and objectives, and to improve the quality of the service it delivers.

The role maintains and encourages a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and are fastidious and proud of delivering excellence and quality and represents Santander Technology UK to our clients.

The role demands direct and close working with Operations and supporting business unit stakeholders; and therefore knowledge of business processes and technology supporting operations and controls.

What we're looking for?
•A Back Office SME with strong and successful experience
•Experience in Oracle/PL/SQL
•Experience in complex, distributed systems and web based distributed architectures
•Practical experience of test driven development and continuous delivery practices
•Experience of Kanban or Scrum methodologies
•Support the strategic direction of our products & services taking into account emerging and legacy technologies
•Ability to drive consistent standards and approaches throughout the team
•Assist in critical support issues where your experience is required to ascertain the issue quickly and to find the more appropriate resolution
•Contribute to the creation of a culture of promoting new ideas.
•Freely share knowledge, insight, best practice and ideas
•Proactively drive innovation with new ideas and options made available by new technologies
•Be a self-starter with knowledge and interest to drive new tech trends and architecture
•Must be delivery focused; capable of working in a dynamic, fast-moving and highly challenging environment
•Must possess analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
•Demonstrates influencing skills and capable of working to get a consensus view from different stakeholders
•Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results on technical projects
•Candidates must have an excellent level of written and spoken English. Understanding of Spanish is beneficial, but not a requirement
•Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure
•Experience at advising key stakeholders at senior level
