Overall Job Purpose

This is a key commercial role within the Immediate Cycling’s portfolio. Selling directly to core and non-core clients and their agencies to maximise profits and achieve the budgeted revenues, throughout the entire sports portfolio. This role provides an opportunity to sell across a variety of revenue streams (display, creative solutions, video and digital) and will involve selling to both new and existing clients.

Accountabilities

Revenue and account management

* Responsible for hitting and exceeding multi-media revenue targets, as set by Group/Ad Manager
* To strategically develop your clients, ensuring that clients understand the full extent of our production and strategic offering.
* To understand your client’s business environment, including challenges and competitors
* Accurate forecasting and pipeline management, reported as requested to management
* Responsible for YOY growth/management of allocated core client base
* New business generation through both management strategy and pro-active assessment of market and its opportunity
* Being the first point of contact with clients, this includes (where necessary) but not limited to; chasing copy, accounts issues and general Ad queries
* Making and attending an effective number of client meetings appropriate to achieving targets and developing revenue, preparing sales material and presenting face-to-face to individuals and groups.
* Creation of opportunities for additional revenue through promotions, events, sponsorship, online and competitions, and any other opportunities that may be available.
* Ensuring that clients and agencies are fully aware of all commercial opportunities available to them and advise the Advertising Manager and Director of any prospective activity in this field
* To maintain efficient records including bookings, client notes, call and meeting reports, follow up details and agency responsibilities. To take an active interest in the bike industry, and to make every effort to stay up to date with all industry developments.
* To strategically develop your clients, ensuring that clients understand the full extent of our production and strategic offering.
* To understand your client’s business environment, including challenges and competitors

Brand responsibility

You may be asked to champion a brand. It is everyone’s responsibility to be an expert on our portfolio demographics and the USP’s of each product; however, the brand champion is the person who will hold detailed knowledge of their brand and market.

This will include, but not limited to;

* Attending and feeding back on brand planning meeting
* Forecast of numbers as agreed with relevant Ad manager
* Informing team of supplements, features, issues etc. and where necessary distributing leads in line with team account document
* Management of remnant/unsold inventory (i.e. fillers ads in print)
* Monitoring and analysing competitive media for business leads

You will also have a responsibility of;

* Overseeing the development and distribution of the relevant sales materials for upcoming supplements and editorial features. (Where necessary)
* Collaborate with publishing to develop commercial opportunities within your brand and provide a commercial perspective on the market to create sales products that will be meaningful to both consumers and advertisers.
* If you oversee a digital property, you are responsible for working with the ad ops team to create media plans around any special editorial features or major events online.
* Feedback of all relevant market intelligence to team and business

* You will be a confident and articulate sales person, equally comfortable with phone sales and face to face meetings, drive for results and be counted on to exceed goals and targets successfully; consistently pushing yourself to achieve goals and plans.

Technical Competencies:

* Print or digital sales experience desired but not essential
* Excellent sales, negotiation and presentation skills as well as keen attention to detail
* Strong new business skills and tenacious approach
* A strong team player with a proven track record in achieving and exceeding sales revenues
* Ability to apply all the latest applicable research and data within sales process
* Good communication, administration and business skills
