Account Handler (Insurance)

Our client is a growing group of insurance advisory businesses. The business is growing rapidly through acquisitions and by employing outstanding individuals with a wealth of knowledge and experience across the insurance market.

Position: Account Handler
Location: aQmen, Leatherhead, Surrey (commutable from Epsom, Guildford, Woking and surrounding areas)
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £18,000 to £24,000 per annum

About the role:

Our client, an insurance broker based in Leatherhead, is looking for an Account Handler. They specialise in insuring charities, social enterprises and civil society in general.

The main purpose of the role is to service their clients and manage and develop client relationships in order to contribute to the growth and success of the business. Full training will be given and the jobholder will be expected (after completion of the trial period) to study for a professional insurance qualification.


- Process insurance quotations, renewals and mid-term adjustments in a customer-focused and fully compliant manner.
- Develop excellent business relationships with clients and prospects. Help the team achieve new business and retention targets.
- Utilise communication and negotiation techniques and skills to clearly inform and educate clients and prospects about the features and benefits of products, ensuring that every customer receives a full complement of sales and upselling opportunities.
- Develop a level of product and regulatory knowledge appropriate for the role. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all customer and prospect contacts.
- Achieve personal goals set with your line manager. Carry out any additional duties as agreed with your Line Manager.

About you:

- Degree preferred; A levels considered. Competent user of Excel. Desire to study for insurance qualifications.
- Good, confident communication skills. Good written skills; Organised, efficient, pays attention to detail; Calm under pressure.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple streams of work. Drive to succeed in a target-based environment.
- Insurance experience; Acturis experience; Track record of working within a targeted sales environment are Preferred but not essential.
