Synopsis:  Business development director with a track record of winning new business and an excellent understanding of how the sports business works.   Strong presenter and new business development skills.  To £50k basic ote £70k plus car allowance, pension.

Job Description:  Business Development Director

Our client requires a Business Development Director to help the company grow and develop. This key role will involve identifying and securing new business opportunities and managing resources as required.    

Responsible to:              Managing Director

Salary Package:             negotiable to include basic salary (circa£40k= £50k,  bonus, ote circa £60k -

                                   £70k) car allowance & pension

Hours:                          9am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday

Location:                       South Midlands

Main duties of the post:

  • Identifying new business opportunities for the company from new clients , existing clients and new ventures.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong client relationships through regular close contact and account management which will include regular face to face meetings, telephone and email communication
  • Ensure you manage expectations of all stakeholders by communicating through meetings, verbal, written and email forms
  • Project managing campaigns; developing timetables and setting deadlines for clients and the Goodform team
  • Managing internal resources to deliver to clients needs
  • Establishing individual requirements whereby each client receives a bespoke service
  • Actively seeking to increase the services offered by our client and increase income to the company by various cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
  • Proposing and implementing new practices within the company to ensure its ongoing development and progress.
  • Responding to requests from the Managing Director in an efficient and timely manner

Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Experience in new business development
  • Experience of presenting to clients at a senior management level
  • Knowledge/experience of CRM /business wide software systems
  • A good understanding of what it takes to maintain and develop the most productive client relationships
  • Must be comfortable working towards defined Key Peformance Indicators (KPI's)- including sales targets
  • A track record of being set and achieving sales targets
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the business of sport
  • Must be able to quickly understand the client, their products and their industry
  • Knowledge of how the sports industry functions and who the key stakeholders/influencers are.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to identify and convert new business opportunities
  • Excellent report-writing, analytical and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong listening and questioning skills
  • Ability to effectively manage customer and staff relationships, promptly respond to queries, ensure promises are kept and manage expectations
  • Ability to use email, internet applications, MS Windows operating system and tracking tools to support the role
  • Ability to apply numerical skills to analyse data, interpreting facts and figures presented in the form of statistical tables and diagrams, thinking critically and checking for errors

Functional Competencies required:

  • A hands on approach to problem solving; identifying issues and using initiative and available resources to generate recommendations
  • An ability to identify a clients key business objectives
  • An ability to present bespoke proposals that meet client needs
  • Strong motivation and a positive approach to researching and analysing new business opportunities
  • Ability to cope with conflicting demands and to prioritise tasks
  • A positive attitude to dealing with people

  • Understanding of the importance of personal development and ability to work toward achieving agreed actions
  • Good general knowledge about the sports industry
  • Ability to work as part of a team, contributing and sharing best practices/knowledge/resources and ideas
  • Understanding of the importance of demonstrating respect and confidentiality regarding company and client information
  • Ability to provide analytical and insightful recommendations to clients and teams
