Business Development Advisor

The salary bracket would be O.T.E of £38-42K, with no ceiling on commission.

Reporting to:     Business Development Manager


Support from:    Marketing/Sales & Account Managers/Office Administrators

Based:              Home/Ware Hertfordshire

Area:                London/South East


Overview

The Business Development Advisor will be advising and selling Leadership and Management solutions to targeted organisations of 500+ employees. This will be achieved through calling existing organisations and cold calling prospects with the support of telesales supplied by the Marketing Department, gaining appointments and developing relationships so that you are able to offer solutions to the challenges their company is facing.  You will work closely with the Business Development Manager & Marketing team on these programmes with clearly specified objectives.

You will have excellent telephone skills and relationship building skills, a clear and confident tone, the ability and confidence to cold call, gain meetings, build relationships as well as contact existing clients and warm contacts.  You must be energetic, methodical and well organised, ensuring accurate recording of calls and outcomes.

  

Objectives and responsibilities

  • To generate a minimum of £300K in a twelve month period with a stretch target of £360K (the exception being the first twelve months of employment - see below)
  • To in order to identify opportunities and create meaningful leads which can be moved forward.
  • To generate leads and solutions to clients through
    • Following up from marketing campaigns utilising phones and email
    • Initially engaging clients through calling cold and warm account contacts generating appointments
    • attending meetings to follow up activities resulting from client meetings and following up on all client issues
    • compiling quality discussion documents and proposals offering appropriate solutions using knowledge and resources within the team
  • Service the accounts of existing clients with the aim of maintaining a long-term relationships which maximise opportunities and profitability
  • To engage with appropriate professional networks to create opportunities for leads and develop the companies brand.
  • To understand in detail all features, benefits and levers of our product range and how it can be applied in organisations to offer a solution
  •  Actively ensure product knowledge is up to date and knowledge is shared
  • To share and cross leads and potential opportunities with other advisors and colleagues
  • To actively maximise all opportunities arising from government funded programmes growing them into viable and sustainable commercial programmes.  
  • To be target focused and ready to query, challenge and question when problems arise or potential problems are identified
  • Log and manage client contact information on the company database (ACT!) via web-based access
  • Log and manage personal activity and report back to the Business Development Manager with contact statistics and activity results
  • To present the professional face of the Company to the broader market place at all times.
  • Attend all regular meetings including monthly communication meetings, sales meetings and annual Team Away days to build the team effectiveness

Key skills and attributes required to add value to the business include:

  • Excellent account management and telesales skills with proven track record
  • A sound sense of the desired outcome of qualifying contacts before selling solutions
  • Good customer focus and service orientation skills
  • A good organiser, with an ability to manage a wide range of activities
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is happy to act as an active team member both remotely and within an office environment with little supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, personable and able to gain customer confidence quickly
  • Good at analysing situations and informing decision-makers of any potential blocks to effective sales and marketing execution·
  • Capable of planning own workload which will achieve targets.
  • Knowledge of database systems (such as ACT) is essential.
  • Clean driving licence and facility to work from home safely

Targets

Quarterly Targets will be set on an annual basis - currently 300k - 360K

This will be based on industry standard statistics and adjusted according to ongoing statistics.  Data integrity will be crucial in achieving call reach targets.
