Job Description

Business Development Manager - Must have a UK driving license

JOB PURPOSE

In a predetermined geographical area identify and deliver new business growth in line with sales, customer number and pipeline targets. To achieve set targets within agreed timescales and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction through liaison with all relevant support services.

ROLE CONTEXT

The success of this role will be primarily achieved through an exceptional focus on the sales objectives with clear business development plans, pipeline management and a personal thinking style of "potential sales values" in any activity undertaken.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. To develop, agree and deliver annual sales volume targets and customer number objectives.

  2. To agree an annual performance plan outlining sales targets, objectives, key standards of performance and training plan to achieve personal development goals.

  3. To have a full understanding of all the Route products and services; the sales process and administration standards required to sign up customers.

  4. Recognise and tenaciously process a variety of source leads and create a healthy pipeline' of prospects.

  5. Identify, establish and manage first class business relationships with customers to deliver new business targets.

  6. Develop business development plans that deliver a contact and customer callage strategy that achieves the sales target and objectives.

  7. To work collaboratively with suppliers/business partners local sales and account personnel maximising opportunities for profitable growth across the geographical area.

  8. To ensure consistent and first class standards of operation are adhered to at all times, including customer contact and communication, credit management and all other elements of internal and external administration.

  9. To demonstrate expertise' in delivering to clients cost reduction, compliance and carbon management solutions to create value in terms of business and environmental sustainability for customers.

  10. Negotiate and formalise trading agreements with customers to ensure the required levels of service or product offering and commercial return are understood and agreed.

  11. Develop and deliver an integrated coverage plan for the geographical area that optimises the effectiveness of your time and achievement of your area targets, objectives and standards of performance.

  12. To understand and work within the operational framework that outlines policies, procedures and reporting to follow in relation to activity management, customer management, performance and personal management.

  13. Conduct regular reviews with suppliers/business partners local sales and account personnel detailing current business, prospect update and provide timely feedback internally on service levels.

  14. Identify local and national opportunities by feeding back market information internally.

  15. To monitor customer sales performance to support call planning and to maintain existing sales volumes where appropriate.

  16. To behave at all times in a manner consistent with the Route values.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 - 3 years structured selling in a fmcg background.

  • Of graduate calibre/good standard of education, numerate, verbally articulate and good writing abilities for email and correspondence.

  • A record of commercial success in previous roles.
