Job Description

My client is a leading manufacturer of pneumatic equipment and is recruiting and Area Sales Manager to cover the South West.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

It is envisaged this role will appeal most to an accomplished sales professional with a proven ability to develop new business and attain sales targets.

A good knowledge and experience of sales in the following areas would be ideal:

Automation products

Pneumatic components

Electrical components or systems

Fieldbus equipment

Process valves

Solenoid valves

Home-based but with the full support of the head office, the successful candidate will be an individual who works well independently, is highly self-motivated and can progress on personal initiative. Working as part of a key sales team this person will also be a team player, able to interact with all members of the company and can communicate with customers on all levels. He or she should be well organised and be efficient in planning and area management.

The candidate should be outgoing and dynamic with a fresh outlook and unafraid of change when necessary, confidence and professionalism being key aspects in this role. A results focused and driven individual who enjoys challenges and the associated need to prove him/herself in achieving success, a true winner with a positive outlook and a competitive disposition, tenacious and determined would be favourable.

Ideally the candidate would currently be within a field sales role with a track record of success having progressed from an engineering or electrical background. Good business acumen is essential.

Good communication and negotiation skills are also essential for this role and the candidate should be an active listener capable of identifying customer requirements and recognising sale closing indicators.

The candidate should be capable and willing to direct considerable physical and mental effort towards successful job completion, at the same time, able to differentiate between working hard and working smart.

Professional in approach and appearance the successful candidate will be smart and capable of promoting the right image of the company.

Qualifications

Although experience is viewed as far more important than education, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will most probably be educated to degree level or possess an ONC/HNC qualification in an engineering discipline along with good background education qualifications.
Ideally, will have benefited from training in professional selling skills.
Travel

Possessing a current driving licence and willing/able to cover around 30,000 business miles per annum.In addition occasional trips abroad for factory based training may be necessary.
