Sales Engineer, Engineering Consultancy, Manchester and the North West, £28,000 to £30,000 Basic, £40,000 OTE Year One realistic, £50K plus year two onwards
Phenomenal opportunity for a consultative business developer with technical sales experience looking to work in a very buoyant sector helping companies reduce their energy wastage, energy costs and carbon footprint.
Established in the 1970’s this HVAC and lighting consultancy provide energy saving solutions to large commercial and industrial buildings. This is a highly consultative solution sale that can be extremely complex and requires a tenacious individual that is highly commercially oriented with true business development qualities.
Often utilising government and EU grants the company facilitate ‘retrofits’, i.e. replacing with newer technology to make heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting systems more energy and cost efficient. The sale is complex as typically a project is worth in excess of £100K and requires multiple senior level sign off. However the benefits to the client can be huge as their return on investment is usually achieved within two years and they can reduce their carbon footprint therby achieving their corporate social responsibility objectives.
The company require an unusual individual; one that is technically biased but used to conceptual rather than product sales. They are looking for an individual with strong commercial acumen, someone that is always seeking new opportunities and plans tirelessly to succeed. The sales team is enthusiastic and dynamic and they are looking for a positive, vibrant and infectious personality that is able to sell high valued solutions through multiple decision makers.
The team requires an individual that is committed, headstrong, forthright and loyal; someone that is hungry for business and self development and driven by both targets and continuous improvement. In addition they require someone that is trustworthy and sells with purpose; an individual that engenders trust to win referrals and repeat business.
Key to the role is strategic planning. Therefore, the company seeks a sophisticated business developer that will research and plan around 100 target clients in a defined vertical market and systematically begins to close the business.
To apply you will have experience in technical solution sales of some description and be used to selling high valued concepts, such as engineering consultancy, business consultancy or alternative business services. For instance this could be facilities management services, maintenance services or even recruitment. The absolute ideal candidate will have experience selling into Maintenance Managers, Facilities Managers and Environmental Managers within large commercial/industrial buildings.
