Job Description

Rail Civil Design Engineer (CONTRACT OR PERM) - Salary Range: £40,000 - £55,000 OR Upto £400/day
Based: Scotland, York or Birmingham

My client is a world leading civil engineering consultancy who are also specialist advisers focused on developing technical excellence within the rail sector. Having won a major rail infrastructure design tender in the Scottish region, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Principal Civil design engineer to work along side the Associate/project lead in helping to delivery the rail infrastructure project throughout the UK.

You will be expected to have proven range of experience of heavy civil engineering structures associated with infrastructure works, and be looking to progress in your technical field.
You will be required to work in a new team carrying out civil design engineering, assessment and managing small to large scale rail projects. The role will have a strong technical focus.

o You will be working on a range of rail civil engineering and development commissions, ranging from inspection and assessment work to feasibility studies
o Delivering engineering solutions and reporting results to managers and clients
o Preparation of the job design specification and all necessary material and workmanship specifications
o Supervision and mentoring of Graduate Engineers in the design of rail civil engineering infrastructure
o Providing support to other disciplines as required by the office workload and be able to positively advise on aspects of their design as it impacts on other engineering functions.
o Leading and administering several Civil Engineering design works on the project to which you are assigned
o Maintain interface with CAD development group to maximise effectiveness of CAD work on the project
o Ensure that all necessary QA functions are carried out for the project in accordance with project procedures
o You will be expected to undertake the risk and commercial management of projects reporting monthly to the project director
Essential competencies/skills:
o Understanding of construction process in rail engineering
o The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and external clients/contacts
o Ability to deliver to deadlines and work autonomously when required
