Edison Investment Research is widely recognised as Europes leading independent investment research company, providing a range of services to over 300 corporate clients. Corporate services include Research Service, Investor Access Service, and Commercial Due Diligence Service. In order to continue the companys growth in the number of companies under coverage and maximise cross- selling opportunities, whilst maintaining the quality of the brand we have identified a need for an additional Business Development Manager.
Purpose of the role:
You will perform a key role in the marketing effort, targeting companies and acquiring new business including: converting both hot and cold leads, conducting pitches and undertaking follow-up activities. Reporting directly to the Sales Director you will source new client companies, and assist with the management of marketing campaigns. Possessing a history of self generation and achievement of targets you will join a well established firm during a significant growth period.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Developer and cultivator of leads, using multiple sources including cold calling, dormant and prospective client companies, and in-bound enquiries.
- Build and maintain strong and up-to-date pipeline/prospect list within the UK and European Small/Mid-Cap space.
- Attend face to face meetings, conducting pitches and ensure appropriate follow up is undertaken
- Proactively manage individual sales pipeline within the internal CRM system
- Undertake analysis of potential clients to determine those which will deliver the greatest potential value whilst retaining and enhancing the value of the Edison brand.
- Work closely with the various teams at Edison to ensure we maximise all corporate sales opportunities.
- Contribute to the sales strategy in terms of market and client segmentation analysis as well as profiling and researching existing and potential accounts.
- Take responsibility for parts of corporate marketing strategy.
- Monitor news flow from target companies and take appropriate action.
- Liaise closely with the Directors and Sector Heads to agree individual sales plan.
- Meet individual quarterly and annual sales goals.
Person specification
- Demonstrable sales experience gained within business to business environment marketing and selling
- Proven experience of developing effective relationships with client prospects during the sales process
- The presence and gravitas to work with senior management within client companies.
- Adept at client liaison and communication and possessing excellent negotiation skills.
- Ideally, strong understanding of financial markets
- Excellent communicator with strong listening skills and flexible style.
- Proactive, efficient and enthusiastic, with exceptionally strong organisational skills
- Broad knowledge and understanding of financial markets and macro-economic issues.
- Self motivated, working equally competently on your own and as part of a team.
- Strong team player, able to involve, engage and motivate members of the research team in the sales process.
- An energetic self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind set.
- Possess a strong academic record
