Key responsibilities:
To manage and co-ordinate all commercial activities including the development of existing commercial business and supporting new business opportunities.
Continuously monitor selling prices, costs, gross margin, turnover and market share, plus regular liaison with customers on all commercial activities.
Assist in all supply and quality related issues.
The main duties associated with the role:
Maintain the commercial relationship with our existing customers in Europe. Ensure regular visits and excellent levels of customer satisfaction.
Supervise the sales team in their day to day activities.
Co-ordinate the internal activity in response to customer requests, ensuring they are met on time and to requirement.
Obtain up-to-date knowledge of customers' strategy in Europe (eg; car range, manufacturing strategy, alliances, technical evolutions, and supply strategy on each product)
Obtain up-to-date knowledge of the group products and positioning of the group on the targeted market (eg; competition, product and technology developments, pricing)
Negotiate the sales price with customers according to the group commercial policy
In conjunction with the Plant and European R&D, analyse the technical needs of the customer and assist with detailing the specifications.
Manage follow-up of turnover and margin figures and ensure accurate reporting.
Maintain marketing/sales figures data base in order to prepare documents for the budget and for strategic planning.
Gather information about customers' future needs, detect in advance automotive OEMs new projects and forward them to the group know-how and technology dept.
Communicate internally about customers' price targets as well as market prices (competition).
Assist with budget planning and forecasting.
Assist with cost reduction process.(VA/VE)
Assist in preparation of quotations in relation to new and existing business, issuing to agreed deadlines within specifications.
Review and improve departmental procedures and systems.
Advise Plant Manager of potential problems raised by/affecting the Customer, ensuring problems are discussed and resolved to internal and external customer satisfaction.
Receive customer drawings from EDI (Electronic Data Interface), record and circulate maintaining the specific requirements of the individual drawings.
Input costs onto web EDI based application.
Maintain 5S.
Qualifications:
Technical engineer education or business degree with proven experience in technical sales
Skills and experience:
Must have experience in sales or customer support in the automotive industry,
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proven analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with ERP software (SAP) is desirable.
A knowledge of French or German would be advantageous
Thorough knowledge of MS Office in particular experience of spreadsheets, and databases

This position requires travel throughout the UK and Europe and therefore a valid passport & driving licence are essential
