Job Description

 

Head of Sales

                       North West England                                     Basic to £70,000 + Full Package

 

We have ambitious plans to become the market leading online directory in the UK. We will achieve this through creating and developing innovative advertiser products, delivering excellent service and providing exceptional value to our customers.

 

To facilitate this objective we require an outstanding Head of Sales, based in the North West of England, to motivate and manage a team of telephone and field based sales managers and executives. The successful candidate will be a charismatic leader with exceptional hands on management and motivational skills.  They will develop the team to ensure the highest standards of sales management and sales techniques, and that sales performance is attained in line with the requirements of the Business Plan.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • To drive profitable growth of online advertising through leading, coaching and motivating a team to deliver new business and customer renewals across the UK, dealing typically with SME customers. 
  • To manage, drive and motivate the existing team of 200 telephone sales executives and 50 field sales consultants.
  • To recruit, train and develop sales exceptional sales executives and consultants to manage ahead of attrition and meet the growth dictated by the business plan.
  • To continually forecast resource requirements and performance levels to maximise the best return on investment through innovative and efficient utilisation of resources.
  • To understand, comply with and promote adherence to all relevant compliance processes ensuring consistent year on year effectiveness and quality improvement.
  • To agree high level sales targets necessary to achieve revenue growth.
  • To be directly involved in forecasting as and when required, usually weekly, and any subsequent action planning in order to achieve weekly sales targets.
  • To work with all necessary sales channels to ensure maximum efficiency is obtained
  • To ensure sales execution is consistent with the market planning strategy
  • To demonstrate an understanding on key competitor strategies and feedback market intelligence that the business can utilise to refine its business and operational plans
  • The post holder will ensure the health, safety and welfare of themselves and their team in accordance with Company policy
  • To actively support, at all times, company policy and the best practice in the area of security, with particular emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer information.

 

Skill Requirements

 

  • Strong understanding of the online classified advertising sales environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of success within field and office based sales.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
  • The ability to work both alone and in a team environment.
  • Excellent leadership, motivational and organisation skills.
  • Proven track record of managing large sales teams.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and make decisions
  • Ability to travel frequently through a wide geographical area.
  • Excellent capability in data analysis.
  • Knowledge of directory publishing and sales would be highly desirable.
  • Experience of new media and online sales would be highly desirable.
