Materials Testing sales professional required to take ownership of the UK based out of the Bristol Office

A part of Global organisation plc , Our client is an innovative and fast growing company. Our highly skilled team has over 20 years of experience in structural investigation and materials testing, delivering solutions in our UKAS accredited laboratories across the UK and Ireland.



  • Develop new business opportunities for structural monitoring and instrumentation across construction, rail, transport and related sectors

  • Develop relationships with new and existing customers across technical, procurement and senior levels

  • Develop sector specific strategies to deliver revenue and profit targets of the company
  • Inform and support the new product development process by providing customer and competitor insight across the industry

Responsibilities of the Technical Sales Manager

  • Developing long term relationships with new and existing clients through managing and interpreting their requirements, wider market trends and competitor activity.

  • Negotiating contract and commercial terms that meet both the client and company's needs.

  • Work closely with Product Mangers/ Technical Authorities to understand the technical offering.

  • Work closely with the sales team including the Bid Manager for timely, effective and accurate quotations, tenders, RFQ, PQQs and ITTs.

  • Use on-line tender portals to track and identify new opportunities.

  • Build long term relationships with key influencers and shape the long term agenda across condition and structural monitoring industry

  • Detailed understanding of full P&L.

  • Supporting marketing activities including advertising exhibitions and attendance on technical committees.

  • Maintain accurate customer records and track sales pipeline using the CRM system. Coordinate project handover from Sales to Operations upon successful award of contract

  • Review all customer contractual arrangements and where necessary seek advice from Group Legal

  • Critically evaluate technical designs, and/or to refer to appropriate colleagues as necessary to ensure accuracy of bids

  • Identify industry trends, competitors and key customers


Required Qualifications and Experience from the Technical Sales Manager

  • Good working knowledge of SHM, gauges, data acquisition techniques

  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, rail and/or transport sectors

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent experience

  • Excellent IT skills across Microsoft Office, Sage CRM & 200

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication and influencing skills

  • Excellent commercial skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Good project management skills
  • Keen attention to detail

Job Offer

The successful Technical Sales Manager can expect a basic salary of up to £50,000 + bonus and benefits
