Midland Steel is a rapidly growing business, launching a new factory and office and due to continued success and achievement they are now hiring across multiple areas and disciplines.

 

Job Title: Prefabrication Technical Sales/Detailer – Construction Industry

Location: Hull

 

COMPANY OUTLINE

Midland Steel is a forward thinking, innovative steel manufacturing business which is experiencing continued growth and expansion. Having been established for only 8 years, the company’s turnover is already exceeding £30m and this is increasing year-on-year. Due to this expansion, they are seeking a Prefabrication Technician/Detailer on a permanent basis, who can contribute to the further success and development of the business out of a new office location on the outskirts of Hull.

THE ROLE

You will be required to offer technical support/detailing on prefabricated cages to the Scotland and North East facilities along with proactively marketing and selling the Company’s added value products. This will predominantly be an internal role; however, there may be a requirement to visit the North East location and local sites for ongoing training purposes.

  • Following up and reporting back on Prefabrication leads passed

  • Formulating quotations and providing a consultative sale to the client on all products the Company is able to supply

  • Producing prefabricated cage drawings

  • Producing beam layout drawings

  • Professionally deal with clients, engineers and intercompany colleagues

  • Maintain and update Prefabrication Production Planning Spreadsheet

  • Liaise with client and intercompany colleagues to ensure speedy resolution to any issues which may arise

  • Ensure all information passed to the relevant depot has been checked prior to manufacture

  • Utilising MS Office to produce Marketing literature as requested for e-marketing campaigns

  • Work speedily and to a high level of accuracy to ensure there are no production delays

  • Ongoing Product training will be given, and the Company is open to offering support to all employees that wish to commence additional study towards gaining industry recognised qualifications.

THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proactive approach to work, able to manage own workload and prioritise effectively

  • High computer competence using MS office and MS outlook

  • An ability to understand Construction Drawings is advantageous although ongoing training will be offered to the right candidate

  • An ability to thrive in a continually changing environment

  • Good administrative skills

  • Team player

  • Good maths ability

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a ‘can do’ attitude

  • Sales experience preferred but ongoing training will be offered to the right candidate

  • An understanding of the Construction Industry would be beneficial

SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Competitive, negotiable salary depending on experience. We will pay for the right person and we will help you to progress yourself and your career within our business.

  • Salary progression available based on performance

HOURS OF WORK AND TYPE OF CONTRACT

  • Permanent contract

  • Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
