Working for a fresh food business who are active in several EU countries [mainly in retail] and are looking to expand their presence in the UK

My client specialise in the production of own label Mediterranean delicacies such as tapenades, olives and antipasti. Their mission [and passion!] is for their customers to taste freshness in all their products and they pride themselves on their distinctively delicious and natural flavor.

They have strong retail trading relationships across Europe and are now looking to expand into the UK & strengthen their Irish business.

Description

This job opportunity is for an experienced, talented Senior Business Development Manager/ National Account Manager to manage the business in Ireland and to build the business in the UK, focusing on private label within retailers.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • ROI: managing the current Irish business
  • UK: identifying possibilities and prospecting potential retail partners (the primary national accounts) as well as secondary food services partners.
  • EU: take on a possible business development role in other EU countries

Although this is a homebased role the ideal candidate will be within a reasonable commute of London.

Profile

As an experienced Business Development / Key Account Manager you will have outstanding prospecting, selling and interpersonal skills plus strong, instinctive commercial acumen with the confidence to help shape the future direction of the business in the UK. The right candidate will be able to progress their career within the business.

To be considered for this pioneering role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Extensive record of food sales success, ideally within the UK fresh food private label retail sector.
  • Ability to work autonomously: prospect, identify possibilities, transform into business.
  • Have excellent sales skills combined with the ability to reflect on category management and marketing.
  • Ability to set-up and follow up P&L and determine pricing.
  • Track record of career progression and achievement as well as the desire and potential to grow with the company.
  • Excellent academic record - ideally degree level educated.
  • Live within sensible commuting distance of Greater London and willing to working from a home office

  • Willing to travel to key markets in the UK, ROI and to Belgium (typically 2 times a month) and participate in international trade shows.

Job Offer

Salary is dependent on experience, car/allowance, pension, healthcare, performance related bonuses
