Sales Manager – Power Tools / Merchants

Job Title: Sales Manager – Power Tools / Merchants

Industry Sector:  Power Tools, Hand tools, Merchants, Independent Retailers, Merchants, Wood Working, Independent Merchants

Area to be covered:  East Anglia and East Midlands

Postcodes: IP, CO, NR, PE, LN, NG

Basic Salary: £27,000 - £33,000 + 20% Bonus Annually

Benefits: Fully expensed Mercedes Van + benefits package

The role of the Sales Manager – Power Tools / Merchants products will involve:

  • Selling a comprehensive range of high end Hand and Power Tools
  • 80% of your time selling to Independent Merchants
  • Remaining 20% of your time selling / demonstrating and back selling through end users such as window fabricators, door manufacturers, joiners, kitchen fitters and renovation companies
  • Taking over a successful patch which has previously achieved 100% of its turnover target with a realistic target this year of £500k
  • Typical product order values ranging from around £500 - £50k
  • 75% of your time will be spent managing existing relationships which approximately accounts for around 180 accounts on the patch
  • Remaining 25% of your time will be spent generating new accounts and relationships
  • Covering a territory which will incorporate East Anglia and parts of East Midlands including postcodes IP, CO, NR, PE, LN, NG


The ideal applicant will be a National Sales Manager - Power tool products experience with:

  • Proven / demonstrable  track record of external field sales within the Construction industry
  • Ideally a strong understanding or experience with specialist power tools  
  • Must have a demonstrable track record of selling to independent merchants and ideally sub contractors
  • Preferably have experience of working for a manufacturer with a strong understanding of the sales process selling to independent merchants
  • Strong communicator, relationship builder and excellent organisation skills
  • Product demonstration and presentation experience advantageous
  • High level of drive, energy, enthusiasm and self motivation
  • Ambitious, team player, personable character
