Sales Manager – Paving / Hard Landscaping

Job Title: Project Sales Consultant – Paving / Hard Landscaping

Industry Sector: Building material manufacturer, field sales, architects, landscape architects, interior designers, consulting engineers, local authorities and main / key contractors

Area to be covered: South West London, Berkshire, Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex

Remuneration: £38,000 + £7,400 Bonus

Benefits: Car or car allowance & comprehensive benefits

The role of the Sales Manager – Paving / Hard Landscaping will involve:

  • Field sales position selling a predominantly a manufactured range of paving / hard landscaping, but also some drainage, street furniture and natural stone products
  • Targeting commercial projects such as hospitals, schools, public realm / infrastructure projects
  • Specification field sales position, 70% of the time gaining specifications with architects & landscape architects and 30% with other specifiers such as consulting engineers, local authorities and key contractors (such as BAM or Balfour Beatty)
  • Working in conjunction with a field sales contractor representative, spending time with the key contractor bid teams, supporting the specifications team at the design stage
  • £100,000 typical specification value
  • 15% of your time will be spent project managing
  • Targeted on winning £650,000 of specifications per month, the conversation rate is currently running at 60% and delivering circa £2.5m of new project development
  • 70% time getting specified with established customer base, 30% new specifiers, (although our client’s brand will be known)
  • £10m+ revenue responsibility
  • Area performing extremely well, and is only available due to an internal reshuffle

The ideal applicant will be a Sales Manager – Paving / Hard Landscaping with:

  • Must have field sales experience of a technical construction / building material
  • Must have worked for a building material manufacturer not a builders merchant field sales representative
  • Must have an aptitude to learn, you will be given time to learn the products and develop as a field sales professional
  • Knowledge of hard landscaping is not required as full product training will be provided
  • Open to any technical field sales product backgrounds
  • Specifications field sales experience with either: architects, interior designers, engineers, local authorities or key contractors is not essential
  • Stable career history, looking for career longevity
  • Determined, driven and professional
  • Quick to pick up new ideas
  • Potentially also interested in specification sales professional with an element of design in their backgrounds
