Sales Engineer – Condensate and Heat Recovery Systems

Job Title: Area Sales Engineer – Condensate & Heat Recovery Systems

Industry Sector: Condensate and Heat Recovery, Boiler Control Systems, Thermal Energy Management, Flowmetering, Humidification, Fluid Handling, Compressed Air, Pipeline and Steam Ancillaries, Steam Traps and Engineered Systems and Packages, HVAC, M&E Contractors and M&E Consultants

Area to be covered: South East (below M4)

Remuneration: £45,000 (Neg.) + up to 30% Bonus

Benefits: Fully expensed Car & Full Benefits

The role of the Area Sales Engineer – Condensate & Heat Recovery Systems will involve:

·         Field sales position selling a large manufactured portfolio of steam system management, fluid control products, engineered packages, system expertise and site services for industrial and institutional customers

·         Predominantly selling condensate management pumps and steam traps, but also boiler controls and thermal energy management plate heat exchange packages

·         70-80% of your time targeting end user customers within hospitals, pharmaceutical plants and MOD bases

·         Remainder of time will be spent with resellers, mechanical contractors and mechanical consultants

·         Responsible for circa 170 customers with a turnover of approx. £2m

·         Inheriting an area that achieved target last year, but is currently running slightly behind target this year as a result of some projects being deferred until 2018

·         50% of your time account management (should equate to £1m revenue approx.), 50% new business development within existing customers

·         Project sizes can vary in length up to one year

·         Majority of projects £10,000-£30,000, but can go up to £50,000-£100,000 for the larger projects

·         4 Days per week on the road field sales, typically 3-4 customer visits per day

·         80% of the revenue comes from the top 20% of accounts so calls can vary from once per day for small accounts to once a fortnight for large accounts with existing projects

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Engineer – Condensate & Heat Recovery Systems with:

·         Ideally with knowledge of steam or condensate management system process

·         Will also consider backgrounds within thermal energy, heat transfer, cold to hot, control fluids, water systems and compressed air

·         Contracts within hospitals, pharmaceutical plants and MOD bases is not required

·         Ideally with a mechanical engineering or related science subject qualification

·         Driven - jump out of bed in the morning attitude, not someone looking for a nine to five

·         Target and goal driven

·         Solid net-worker

·         Business acumen and negotiating skills

·         Technical ability, professional and organised
