The organisation is an exciting London-based start-up born of joint venture between a team of experienced entrepreneurs and a large world renowned Insurer with decades of experience working with teachers and other public sector workers. Their mission is to build a substantial business in the UK providing a range of next-generation financial services tailored to the specific needs of professionals working in the public sector. Working closely with the unions involved, they support their clients by offering them simple, transparent, and high-quality products that ensure they can achieve and retain financial security.

Their product is an innovative plan designed to provide a permanent, supplementary income to the c.100,000 members of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) should they lose their salary through prolonged ill health. No equivalent plan is currently available in the UK. The scheme offers more tailored benefits and easier entry conditions than normally available from products of this kind.

Description

Sales Consultant - Financial Services - Public Sector

Working from a sophisticated database of schools and on foot of an introduction from ATL, you will schedule appointments in schools with ATL representatives. Using video & other multimedia, you will present the benefits of the plan to ATL members in their staffrooms and follow-up with one-to-ones with members to recruit them to the plan using sophisticated digital tools. You will also more generally promote the plan by occasionally attending ATL branch meetings, conferences, seminars, training sessions, etc.

This is a demanding role requiring a highly motivated, ambitious individual, who has the foresight and drive to help realise the company's goals. As part of an energetic team, you will join the organisation in facing all the challenges and opportunities inherent in a start-up as you work together to realise the company's tremendous prospects for the future.

The role will be home and field based. The first month will require you to travel to their head office in London for training on their products, all costs associated with this will be reimbursed. After this you will also be expected to meet in their head office from time to time (no more than once per month).

Profile

Sales Consultant - Financial Services - Public Sector

What's key is to find someone who is the right fit for their team and business. The organisation therefore does not have an extensive set of requirements - apart from having at least 2 years' customer-facing work experience and that you've held driver's license for at least a year.

Whilst previous experience in the financial services industry may help, it is not a pre-requisite. You will however need to be the kind of person who excels at whatever challenges you take on, and possess all of the following:

  • Great presentation skills and ability to 'break the ice'
  • Excellent one-to-one business development and closing skills
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way
  • The capacity to gain the confidence of clients through your honest, ethical, and professional demeanour
  • A relentless focus on the best interests of clients
  • The desire and enthusiasm to positively affect others' lives
  • A resilient and hard-working attitude and the capacity to power through obstacles and challenges
  • A self-motivated and well-organised disposition with the capacity to work on your own
  • Highly target-driven with the ability to focus on both short-term goals and long-term strategic objectives
  • Experienced with time management, pipeline management and use of a CRM system
