A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented, experienced and driven business leader to join the company's growing team. The successful Head of Business will provide both strategic leadership and tactical delivery: setting the strategic agenda, planning, implementing and reviewing activities to tight deadlines.

Client Details

The company provides stem cell processing & storage facilities for a wide range of human tissues, and stem cell research at the Institute of Stem Cell Technology (ISCT). The business is leading a transformation in cord blood banking and stem cell treatment; making cord blood banking more accessible through insurance coverage, and increasing the availability of cord blood for transplants. The group currently operates in a number of countries and has an aggressive geographic expansion plan for 2018.

Description

  • Leading and managing the team to drive profitable business - overall budget and P&L ownership.

  • Developing and implementing strategic go-to-market and sales plans - including optimisation of sales journeys, evaluation and optimisation of different sales and marketing strategies and channels, key account planning and management and expansion into new geographies.

  • Developing and implementing a strategic product roadmap - ongoing exploration of new product opportunities be they driven from customer need or academic innovation from partners.

  • Driving operational efficiencies - continually driving operational efficiency, effectiveness and excellence.

  • Negotiating agreements with a wide variety of stakeholders - suppliers, customers, distributors, etc.

  • Team management - ongoing motivation and management of the division, in the UK and globally.

  • Organisation design for the team - taking strategic decisions on how we deliver a business that is rapidly expanding geographically; what we do centrally, in-country, or via third party partners and suppliers.

  • Representation of the business across a broad range of industry events, lobbying and networking across the stem cell industry

Profile

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Demonstrable experience in a broadly similar role

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills - budgeting, RoI measurement and management across a variety of sales and marketing channels

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines. Ideally with prior experience of managing an ecommerce platform or building digital applications.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a clear interest in technology as a driver of scale, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Entrepreneurial, strategic and a passion for doing things at pace

  • Relevant professional qualification - or demonstrable equivalent experience.

  • Educated to degree level as a minimum

  • Likely at least 5 years' experience in competitive business environments (including P&L and staff responsibility)

  • Demonstrable strategic sales and negotiation ability

Job Offer

Up to £65,000 basic salary + other benefits

This is a full-time role that will be based in Manchester. It will require work outside of normal hours and will require international travel on a relatively frequent basis - likely at least once or sometimes more per month.
