Job Title: Export Sales Manager

Location: South Darenth, Kent

Salary: £50,000 - £53,000 per annum (OTE £60-£63k)

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Job Role:

The Company is a leader in vehicle safety systems with a comprehensive range of products to reduce the risk of collision and maximise efficiency, including camera monitor systems, reversing alarms, ultrasonic proximity sensors, digital recorders and a thermal image camera. They are currently looking to recruit for an Export Sales Manager to increase the Company's export sales values and profitability

To help achieve the Company's strategic objectives, which include:

  • Increasing its global footprint
  • Being the aftermarket's supplier of choice
  • Winning more Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business

To provide inspirational leadership of the export sales team, encouraging and coaching them to realise their full potential

To exploit both existing and new market sectors opportunities, in line with the company's strategic plan

Key Tasks:

  • Managing the export sales team; some home/overseas based
  • Planning implementing and controlling regional/area sales operations
  • Training, encouraging and coaching the export team in achievement of their goals and targets
  • Taking over and running existing export accounts as designated. Building relationships with these and, where appropriate, initiating and taking action to increasing their loyalty and annual spend on Brigade products
  • Prospecting for and developing new export customers/territories as targeted
  • Following up sales leads by telephone, email, and with personal visits
  • Finding and appointing new overseas distributors
  • Exploring, learning and thoroughly understanding the technical, functional and operational aspects of the Company's products and services. Training will be given
  • Supporting, coaching and developing existing overseas distributors in marketing and selling Brigade's products
  • Negotiating prices within agreed limits as defined by the Sales Director and providing verbal and written quotations as needed
  • Attending/working on the company's stand at exhibitions and conferences as required
  • Forecasting sales by customer and product group, monthly and annually in line with direction from the Sales Director
  • Agreeing sales targets with the Sales Director, and working to meet these targets
  • Selling direct to large fleet operator, tendering for large industry specific contracts
  • Winning business from vehicle/machine manufacturers (OEMs), either direct or via a group subsidiary
  • Championing the export team's full and correct use of the company's CRM and other IT systems, so that we can maximise sales and marketing opportunities and efficiencies; also, to aid team management
  • Submitting monthly sales and expense reports with appropriate supporting documentation
  • Communicating weekly movement schedules as required
  • Playing a part in identifying and feeding back market led opportunities for existing and new product development

Location, Working Relationships and Development

This is a head office based position with regular overseas visits required to designated territories. Required to present a positive and professional image at all times

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure that positive, professional and mutually beneficial relationships are established and maintained with colleagues, customers and prospects
  • Liaise, co-operate and teamwork with HQ and subsidiary colleagues, ensuring that there is understanding and agreement in situations where territorial lines and responsibilities are blurred or crossed
  • Display a pro-active 'can do' attitude, offering help and support to the Group's colleagues as appropriate
  • Actively participate in team meetings, training courses and workshops

Person Specification:

Education & Training

  • Candidate should be educated at least to Diploma level
  • Fluent English
  • Professional training in strategic selling and negotiating skills (desirable)
  • Professional training in field sales and territory management (desirable)
  • Experience of, or evidence of an aptitude for marketing (desirable)
  • Aptitude for technical understanding (desirable)
  • Fluent in at least one other language, preferably including Spanish and French (desirable)

Experience and Skills

  • Strong commercial Running/managing an export sales team;
  • Minimum 5 years technical sales experience in the commercial vehicle, plant, mining and/or mobile machinery markets, preferably in Export markets
  • Strategic selling to large organisations
  • Consistently meeting financial targets and achieving sales growth
  • A proven track record of innovation and success in territory sales
  • Working and negotiating with customers at all levels to win business
  • Working within a team
