Reporting to the Head of Commercial, the Commercial Manager will be primarily responsible for managing and raising awareness of key commercial activities between the business and its customers in support of the effective execution of contractual obligations

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for ensuring that business is conducted in line with contractual obligations with the aim of mitigating any contractual financial or risk implications. The role includes the direct management of a team and will necessitate a pro-active approach to the development and growth of that team.


  • Implement and translate the Commercial Strategy as communicated by the business into specific team objectives and ensure adherence to company and departmental processes and policies.

  • Support management of key customer and internal review points including programme and contract reviews.

  • Assist the Bid Team in the review of new business opportunities, modelling and managing new business proposal and financial model preparation developed and approved in accordance with company procedures.

  • Ensure effective commercial change control processes are in place to deliver pricing, negotiation and contracts are developed, approved and delivered in accordance with company procedures.

  • Conduct negotiations to manage successful outcomes including the necessary formulation and testing of commercial positions.

  • Manage a team of Commercial Officers in their daily work requirements and support the development the team to increase the knowledge and skill base within the organisation.

  • Provide expert advice to internal customers on all commercial and contractual matters to ensure all claims, negotiations and settlements are management, approved and documented accordingly.



You must have a background in engineering, aerospace or similar industry

  • Excellent communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills to work with people at all levels within and outside the business.

  • A proven track record in complex negotiation and the successful resolution of key business issues

  • A background in terms and conditions analysis, review and negotiation is essential

  • Strong level of commercial acumen, including contract negotiation, management and compliance.

  • Ability to construct, assess and understand financial modelling for new business opportunities.

  • An appreciation and awareness of order management tools and ERP systems.

Job Offer

The successful applicant can expect a basic salary of around £50,000 + extensive benefit package
