DS Smith is looking for 3 Regional Business Development Managers to work within the Commercial & Operations Functions. These roles will be essential in growing the tonnage of fibre and other core grades coming into the depot network. This role is new business focused and will target companies such as printers, packaging companies, distribution etc as required by the depots.

The roles will be split by regions and will cover specific depots:

• Role 1 covering Portsmouth and Bristol
• Role 2 covering Uxbridge, Maidstone, Cambridge
• Role 3 covering Leeds, Bolton and Birmingham

What being a Regional Business Development Manager at DS Smith will involve...

• Helping DS Smith increase market share in terms of fibre inputs to the depots as required by the business
• Achieving individual targets on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis to increase market share in terms of core grade materials
• Sourcing and securing fibre from new sources within a geographical location as required by the Depot Business Managers, Sourcing Director and Commercial Director
• Developing an understanding and application of DS Smith Supply Cycle approach
• Working within the marketing Function to develop the company's campaign model to identify and acquire customers through segmentation and targeting approach
• Developing industry/market knowledge to source new business opportunities and develop them to account stage
• Working with other departments and divisions to develop new customer and supplier opportunities in all areas of the business
• Attending exhibitions and events to support DS Smith Sales & Marketing strategy

What we would like our candidate to have...

• Proven track record in sales / new business
• Understanding of the sales process for both contracted work and spot purchasing
• Good communication and IT skills – with the ability to communicate at all levels, including senior executives, both within internal and external customers
• Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
• Demonstration of a sound level of industry & legislation knowledge including across paper grades and treatment technologies
• Good working knowledge of target sectors – print, packaging, logistics, pack-fillers and other high producers of Paper for Recycling
• An ability to work under pressure to hit targets
• Commercial negotiation skills
• Results driven and tenacious
• Commercially astute and aware of market trends and competitor activities
• Ambitious and driven in securing new business
• Possess full driving licence
