Business Development Manager (Scotland) - Aberdeen with travel across Scotland

The company
Our client is a world leading manufacturer of equipment for ships and offshore installations they have developed a portfolio of products which encompasses marine growth prevention systems (MGPS), hull corrosion protection systems (ICCP), reverse osmosis desalinators and ballast water treatment (BWT) systems.
The Role
They have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager, this role will report to the Scotland Territory Manager and work with the local Office Manager.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities that include but are not limited to
Responsible for the performance of the region in the Scotland territory
Achieve annual sales and profit targets in the Scotland territory
Increase Profit and Growth for the business
Develop new business opportunities in key/relevant market sectors
Develop and deliver strategic business/marketing plans to achieve financial targets
Obtain knowledge and understanding of each customer in the Scotland territory
Maintain business levels and relationships with existing customers
Perform regular customer visits
Sufficiently knowledgeable on all commercial and technical aspects of the company’s range of equipment in order to correctly advise and inform customers accordingly
Possess full knowledge and understanding of the sales process
Possess full knowledge and understanding of day to day sales activities
Maintain regular communication with the UK Headquarters and regular transfer of information between the UK Headquarters and the local Office Manager
Perform market and competitor analysis, review and action
Introduce new products into the market
Perform monthly performance reviews
Produce relevant trip/performance/sales reports
Possess full P&L knowledge and understanding
Follow the company’s procedure where required and/or requested
Perform pro-active work where possible and where necessary to further improve opportunities to grow
Requirements
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and experience to be suitable for the role
Demonstrable strong self-discipline and self-management
Ability to work independently and achieve business growth with new customers whilst maintaining an excellent relationship with existing clients
Due to the location of the office the successful candidate is expected to travel regularly to Aberdeen and other customer sites throughout Scotland. There is administrative assistance and support in place to help with this
A successful history in sales is required and it is essential to have managerial experience
Experience in the marine industry will be advantageous but not mandatory. It is more important to have the ability to adapt and adjust to fulfil each customer’s requirement
This is an independent role but the successful candidate is expected to show they can also work as part of a team
Full equipment and system training will be given to the right candidate
Excellent communication skills
Well-mannered and of smart personal presentation
Experience of business development and management
Strong interpersonal, organisational and analytical skills
Excellent attention to detail is a must
Commercial awareness
