The Business Development Manager primary focus is to own the business development lifecycle to win large, complex and profitable new contracts. In addition to new name clients, this includes organic growth from within the existing client base and renewals of current contracts. The role demands the highest standards of leadership of a bidding team drawn from all parts of the organisation.

Client Details

A multinational electric utility company, which operates in the fields of electricity generation and distribution, natural gas, nuclear and renewable energy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of personal and sector sales targets

  • Support the evolution of and promote the sector strategy plans

  • Proactively build client relationships to maintain a strong pipeline and win rate

  • Successfully lead large complex bids to private sector clients

  • Compliance with governance processes

  • Ensure CRM system is up to date

  • Support organic growth and retention of current contracts
  • Own, develop and manage pipeline of sales opportunities that will meet personal and team sales targets for the next 2 to 3 years on a rolling basis.
  • Actively maintain a strong knowledge on the industry, client, sector and competitor trends

  • Work with a variety of internal, external and sister company sources to research and analyse prospective opportunities, markets and propositions

  • Actively manage the routes to market and Identify and attend networking events

  • Engage and nurture relationships across the industry which will generate new business opportunities

  • Keep all stakeholders informed as opportunities progress through the cycle


The successful BDM should have the following skillset:

  • Energetic, strong, self confident and self disciplined person
  • A results orientated individual who relishes challenges and being around people
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills with proven ability to quickly build relationships with new clients. Articulate, innovative and challenging mindset with Strong collaborative style
  • Proven track record of winning large, complex TFM, FM or Service deals in Private or similar sector
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain deep pipeline of sales opportunities
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to lead bid solution teams and work under pressure to strict deadlines
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Confidence to talk with and influence people at all levels
  • Self motivated; able to work without constant direction and guidance

Job Offer

Basic Salary up to £65,000 plus OTE
