The Business Development Executive position sits within the wider sales team of a very successful and growing technology and software business. You role will be to map out the market and generate new business from a range of business selling into HR and recruitment functions as well as recruitment agencies themselves.

Client Details

My client is a leader in automated candidate management software for the recruitment industry. Their suite of product ranges from candidate attraction to parsing system all the way to fully integrated CRM systems. These systems are used by some of the biggest firms in the recruitment industry including us here at Michael Page


The role of business development executive will be to generate new business opportunity from client who have never been worked with before and are likely using an inferior competitor product.

Role duties will include:

  • Mapping out the market and understanding who targets could be

  • Building up contact list and working out who's the best person to talk to

  • Approaching business and looking to build relationships

  • Getting some sort of commitment from prospects leading to a meeting or demonstration

  • Passing warm leads and meeting over to senior team member to work on a close

  • Maintaining up to date CRM system

  • Ad hoc projects


The successful business development candidate will need to be a driven individual who wants to take the next step in their career. The key skills needed will be a sales background preferable from a recruitment role as this will enable a lot better understanding of the products

Other skills include

  • A good team-worker also able to use own initiative (this is encouraged) and a conscientious individual.

  • Confident telephone manner.

  • Tenacious and able to deal with a high volume of repetitive work (and some rejection) whilst remaining enthusiastic.

  • Target driven and keen to achieve results.

  • Able to articulate well, with an ability to liaise with people at all levels

  • Good command of written and spoken English.

  • Comfortable in a lively sales environment.

  • Able to respond to training.

Job Offer

The successful Business Development Executive - Recruitment Software will receive:

  • Competitive salary with OTE totalling circa £35K
