Job Title: Area Sales Manager – Fashion/Lifestyle Footwear       


Package: £30K Base salary + Bonus, Car and exec benefits       


Area / Location: Territory Scotland and small part of Northern England. Ideally based Glasgow/ Edinburgh/ Central Belt      


Brief job description: My Client, an old established company and market leader, sells and distributes footwear, mainly lifestyle and fashion products, to the retail trade.

The company are now looking to recruit an Area Sales Manager for Scotland and a small part of England, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales, will have previous experience in selling into the Retail Trade, will be hardworking, driven, hungry for success and looking to join a well established, growing organisation.



Job Purpose:

To effectively manage an assigned territory to maximize profitability, growth and account penetration by effectively selling the Clients products. This will include demonstrating products and services to both current and potential customers, as well as assisting them to select the products best suited to their consumer’s needs.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Be the ambassador of the business and the primary point of customer contact.
  • Manage effectively allocated sales area/geography in order to hit the company targets.
  • Planning and organising daily work schedule to ensure both our existing and potential customers are managed.
  • Servicing existing accounts, which will include obtaining orders, managing expectations and liaising with in house Customer Service and Warehouse staff to achieve agreed levels of service.
  • Identifying potential accounts and following up introductions from the Customer Services team.
  • Introducing new accounts by following the Client’s On Boarding procedure, ensuring the customer is fully informed at all stages of their account being established.
  • Be familiar with both products and service features and benefits, up to date pricing, availability and latest industry trends for footwear and clothing, also the industry standards in the safety market.
  • Responsible for discussing credit terms and preparing sales order forms and reports to meet customer needs.

Key Activities:

  • Procure Sales for brands from a segmented customer base and manage submission of orders into customer services.
  • Develop and maintain up to date key account plan as per template provided by business.
  • Providing management information including activity and results reports, call reports, work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Analysing sales trends, and contributing to the development of company, team and individual sales strategies.
  • Monitor and proactively manage key account deliveries to ensure any issues are minimised and communication remains high.
  • Implementing rigorous and effective sales plans that drive penetration with existing and new customers including clearance activities.
  • Provide the business with regular detailed forecasts and order book updates and brand if required.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules and merchandising techniques.
  • Contributing to team efforts and outputs by attending relevant exhibitions and trade shows, developing new product lines and attending team meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with customers to ensure good customer satisfaction ratings are maintained and concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Maximise sales and new opportunities through online listing management and direct fulfilment.
  • Participate in regular brand, sales and personal development plan training.

Education & Qualification:

  • Good IT skills
  • Good basic education
  • Experience in external sales
  • Previous experience within the footwear industry helpful.
  • Current driving licence and good driving record.


  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • A proven track record in delivering sales growth and meeting targets.
  • Be customer orientated.
  • Experience within multi-channel businesses.
  • Able to be polite, responsive and persistent and able to exude positivity at all times
  • Experienced in networking and negotiating.
  • Ability to self-manage and have strong organisational skills.
